I just finished this top...what color should I use for quilting, red or black???? It will have scallops added...

Vivian Ketron 05-01-2011 02:51 PM

I think i would probably use red.

GrammaO 05-01-2011 02:53 PM

Oh wow. What a beautiful quilt. I love the fabrics. I think my choice would be red, but I also think that if you used invisible or white and did a really nice quilt motif in the large white squares so the quilting itself was featured that that would be pretty too. Very nice...I'm sure it will be lovely no matter what you choose.

jdiane318 05-01-2011 02:53 PM

I love your quilt, it is very pretty. I would find a varigated black/white thread to use. It would blend with your prints and reds while also working with the black and whites. Again, love your quilt. thanks for sharing.

Becca Bear 05-01-2011 02:53 PM

What a very pretty quilt. I think I would use white to quilt it with.

mimom 05-01-2011 02:54 PM

nice pattern, I am looking for a pattern for my MIL's quilt. Where did you get it and how big is it?

Oh, I would do red

Mazda 05-01-2011 02:56 PM

I'd go with black.

Its called Buckeeye Beauty. There is a free pattern on Quilters Cache,I think on there it might be called Autumn Tints...

FancyFoot 05-01-2011 03:00 PM

I would go with red

Nanny J 05-01-2011 03:02 PM

Beautiful!! ditto on red

the casual quilter 05-01-2011 03:06 PM

Either would look great, but I'm liking red the best. Thanks a bunch for sharing what the pattern is and where you found it.

TonnieLoree 05-01-2011 03:07 PM

That is a beautiful quilt. I would use white or invisible thread especially if you are planning on a motif in the light blocks.

S D G 05-01-2011 03:19 PM

I think I would use invisable thread. You could see the quilting but not the thread color where not wanted.

bisseau 05-01-2011 03:42 PM

What a lovely quilt...

MadQuilter 05-01-2011 03:44 PM

I'd use a variegated red.

sueisallaboutquilts 05-01-2011 03:45 PM

OOOO that's so pretty!!!!!!! My choice is white, but come to think of it that's not an option, is it??? hee hee

sweetpea 05-01-2011 03:45 PM

Red. Beautiful.

sherriequilts 05-01-2011 03:46 PM

I think I'd go with white. It's a beautiful quilt.

redturtle 05-01-2011 03:49 PM

my choice would be red...it would show on all your beautiful fabrics...

it really is a gorgeous quilt...wonderful job...cant wait to see it finished

Maggie_Sue 05-01-2011 03:52 PM

I can't wait to see the finished quilt your work is so amazing!!

Cybrarian 05-01-2011 03:55 PM

I would use white or invisible on the white and red in the dark areas.

Cybrarian 05-01-2011 03:56 PM

Hit send too quick--your quilt is stunning!

Kas 05-01-2011 04:13 PM

Make a sample piece of all the fabrics and sandwich it. Then practice with all the colors you are considering. Pick the one that works the best from there. So many times I have thought I knew what color I was going to use, but after making the practice sandwich, have changed my mind.

Irene Frohreich 05-01-2011 04:19 PM

Love your quilt, would use red.

I like this idea- very pretty quilt!

Nanamoms 05-01-2011 09:30 PM

Red would be my choice!

jitkaau 05-02-2011 02:42 AM

I know you say red or black. However, I would choose burgundy.

Vat 05-02-2011 03:32 AM

I'm not sure. Make a sample of both if you have any extra fabric.

MillieMoseley 05-02-2011 03:50 AM

My first thought was red. That is a very pretty quilt.

Traditional 05-02-2011 03:50 AM

I always consider the color of the backing.
red/white varigated.
Beautiful quilt.

nunnyJo 05-02-2011 04:21 AM

nice, nice, nice and it must be RED.

KathyAire 05-02-2011 04:30 AM

That is a beautiful quilt. I love the colors. I like a quilting thread that is not prominent. But, I don't quilt as well as you do. Your work is so good, it can stand out. Mine needs to be in the background.

Rettie V. Grama 05-02-2011 04:44 AM

To me, it would be beautiful with just plain old while thread, but if you need to choose a color between black & red, my choice would be red. Black would be too harsh on the white but red would look nice on the white and blend in with the black.

It is a beautiful quilt.

piepatch 05-02-2011 04:46 AM

I would probably use white or variegated, but since you asked about black or red, I vote for red. The quilt is beautiful, by the way.
