This is such a fun story to follow. Thanks for the update. Please do keep us posted if anything happens 'after the big job' is finished.! Me thinks you better keep working on that quilt!

Then, I took a whole day off work and spent time working at the site with him- now I've got quite the crush!

He came to my office today to bring the bill. He ended up doing TONS more work than we had originally discussed for WAY less money. I negiotiated at least making him some lasagna and a cherry pie (he's a bachelor and mentioned believing in 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach'!) but I would also like to make him a quilt.

My question is... do any of you have a suggestion for a pattern? I thought about doing something neat and classic like a Carpenter's Wheel, but I also love to paper-piece and considered doing blocks with tools. (Is that too silly?) I just don't know and would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!

Love the carpenter's wheel. Sounds perfect for him. Don't get to personal yet!

He has a TRUCK, right??? (don't they all?) or a Van... Make him a small throw size quilt to go in his truck. Heavy duty cotton, or denim. Don't go overboard making it cutesy. If you do use some of those hammer and nails; buckets and buzz saw designs, use only a very few. But include his dog--uhhhh, his Dawg. Some bricks and wood grain designs. Stick to browns, blues, greens, plaids. or Denim.

He does seem interested (I think?) and he told me his mother quilts- I don't know her. He did the work just last week and while we were talking he mentioned "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" and we kept bringing up food topics. When I argued the bill on Friday, I told him I at least owed him a pie or something, then I said oh, how about lasagna? And he readily agreed. So I gave him a check and told him we weren't done talking about this. I'm not sure how we're going to work the food deal all out yet, but I'll let you know! (Right now, I'm packing up my current household to move to the new house with the quilting shed.)

I thought maybe just a little throw quilt, manly colors like blues and browns, in a simple pattern. Nothing too time-consuming like a wedding ring or anything! (LOL!)

Have you seen the movie "Legally Blonde"? Check out Reese Witherspoon's advice to her manicurist on how to catch the eye of the UPS guy.

I would just ask him.

I bought a bushel of peaches from a roadside stand the other day and have been happily working my way through them. So, I made a cobbler for my friend last night and called him this morning to let him know. (You know, I'm almost 40 but I still get nervous when I'm calling a man!)

He's working out in the country today and asked if I'd be home tonight. Grrrr... the ONE night I have to be somewhere else! He said he needed to come by anyway to touch up the corner of my shed he worked on, so he'd try to get done with work early and he'd call me tonight so we could work something out. Yay!

Everything is looking good.
