CoventryUK, that is how I do mine. Also working on 1inch Hexie's with 2.5 squares. Sometimes I cut the excess fabric, sometimes not. I also use heavy paper or excess photo sheets and cut them all at one time. No problems removing them as I go and if taken care of can be reused. From the 2nd pic, you see where the paper is left in till all 6 sides are sewn, then I just pop them out.

How many does it take to make a full size quilt? Also thought maybe these could be used for the top surface of the bed with overhang of a white border with a floral applique. Thoughts?
