I am so excited that Hobby Lobby is coming to my town in florida. A new craft and fabric store. I don't know when it opens,I hope it's worth the wait.

Tussymussy 01-26-2011 03:13 PM

I hope so too, although not in the USA, I too find it exciting when a new LQS opens, tho the two here have closed :-(

lauriejo 01-26-2011 03:21 PM

I think you will enjoy shopping there. They have some decent fabric, and some great fabric. They also have yummy yarns and all kinds of beads. I think the prices on the home decor stuff is really high, but I don't shop for that anyway. I really like the fact that they are closed on Sunday so the employees can go to church, or spend time with their families.

amma 01-26-2011 03:24 PM

Lucky you!! I wish they would come to the west coast :D:D:D

Scissor Queen 01-26-2011 03:26 PM

Hobby Lobby is way more of a craft and home decor store than a fabric store. They don't have just cotton fabrics either, they also have some clothing fabrics.

brookemarie19 01-26-2011 03:35 PM

mmmmmmm I miss hobby lobby

Crabby Patty 01-26-2011 03:35 PM

The Hobby Lobby closest to me,(Quincy,Il about 60 mi.), has a pretty good selection of quilting fabrics. And boy when they have a sale, THEY HAVE A SALE. Things are at least 50% off. Otherwise they are kinda pricey to me estimation.

tealady 01-26-2011 03:54 PM

Sign up for their email specials. On Sun morning I get an email with the weekly sales. Almost every other week they have a 40% off any one item at reg price. Close to Christmas I was getting a 40% coupon every week.

moonwork42029 01-26-2011 04:02 PM

I went to Hobby Lobby last night in Paducah and they were having a 30% off sale on most of their fabrics. Most I paid per yard was $4.19 after the discount.

rusty quilter 01-26-2011 04:03 PM

I have a Hobby Lobby in town, and haven't really taken advantage of it. I read all the reviews here and think--guess I had better get uptown!

Rntraveler 01-26-2011 04:03 PM

Most weeks you can print off the coupon online.. and they do have a great selection of Yarn...

LivelyLady 01-26-2011 04:09 PM

I'm green with envy :hunf: I wished one was coming to my area

Our Hobby Lobby fabric stay on sale for 30% off. I was told that it stays that way. So you can not use the 40% off cupons. But they have some nice fabrics.

kayquilt 01-26-2011 04:32 PM

Several months ago I started buying fabric at Hobby Lobby for the aprons that I have been making. They do have some really good stuff. I like the fact also that they usually have it on sale.

Raggiemom 01-26-2011 04:35 PM

Glad you're getting a new shop.

I love Hobby Lobby. Just went there this afternoon, picked up some fabric and some metal containers for flower arrangements.
I can spend hours in that place.

Sorry yours doesn't have cotton. I have 3 close to my house and all of them have quite a lot of 100% cotton and always 30% off. I have purchased some very good fabric from them.

frugalfabrics 01-26-2011 04:54 PM

Ours use to have a larger fabric department, but it has downsized a little They still offer a variety of cottons, fleece, flannels and all the likes for quilting.

I said they don't have just cotton. You have to pay attention to fabric content at HL.

I am jealous too, wish one were coming to my area. The nearest one to me is about 45 minutes south where I live. They do have tons of home decor items but they have a decent fabric selection too. About the size of a Walmart fabric section or maybe a little bigger, but the prices and quality range are more like Jo Ann Fabrics. ;)

You should come out to southwest Kansas and southeast Colorado, 45 minutes IS in your area!

dkabasketlady 01-26-2011 06:32 PM

I love Hobby Lobby and we're getting one soon in my town too!

Right now I'm in Greeley but I grew up in Lamar and lived in southwest Kansas for over 25 years and I'm headed back there in a few months. For years the nearest HL was about 4 hours away depending on if you went to Wichita or Pueblo. Now there's one in Dodge City. From where I'm moving to that's only an hour and a half. By southwest Kansas standards, that's close.

dgsmom 01-26-2011 06:58 PM

i love our hobby lobby. i love there fabric section here. i also do beaded earrings and necklaces and they have alot in both.

I still have relatives in Sharon Springs, Tribune and I think there is some in Goodland.. Oh and Wallace.

Hobby Lobby also has a great charity program where they buy buildings for charities. Our church applied for a building but because we were already approved to but it we didn't make the rules and couldn't be blessed by hobby lobby. I like supporting companies that do good for others and are not consumed by the almighty dollar. Now that I read they are closed on Sundays so employees can attend church/ have family time?? Hobby lobby please come to my island!!!!!

Jim 01-26-2011 07:37 PM

Depending on how "western" you are in Massachusetts, there is a Hobby Lobby coming to Albany NY area sometime this spring. :-D :-D :-D

homequilter 01-27-2011 02:42 AM

Enjoy Hobby Lobby. It is easy to get lost in the store. I tend to stay near the fabric and yarn.

teacherbailey 01-27-2011 03:22 AM

The fabrics at my HL tend to be on the traditional side---the small calico prints mostly, with some blended prints and some bits of other kinds. Their (old fashioned white with color) checks are a 50/50 blend but they have a good many different colors and sizes.

davis2se 01-27-2011 03:57 AM

What is your town? I'm in Bradenton, and am hoping that it is near there!!

badaisie 01-27-2011 04:23 AM

Where at in Fl. I want a Hobby Lobby too.

Aggierebel76 01-27-2011 04:29 AM

Hobby Lobby is the only fabric store we have here.I Like their fabric.

TX GMimi 01-27-2011 04:59 AM

Read somewhere that Hobby Lobby has started selling fabric on-line now...maybe to give Joann's competition?

mariemy 01-27-2011 05:25 AM

I didn't know hobby lobby carried fabric,I pass it all the time and I thought it was only a craft store like Michaels craft store (no fabric here). Last night we got a foot of snow and our road is not plowed yet or I would be at Hobby Lobby right now! Woo Hoo! a new place for fabrics. I can't wait marie

rosequilts 01-27-2011 05:26 AM
