I'm self taught.... This board is great to have though because you never ever stop learning somthing new and exciting here no matter how long you have been quilting.

I have a foot in both camps. Some things I learn in classes and other things I teach myself. Of course, the QB is a wonderful help.

Well I guess I'm self-taught. I start with a pattern but the finished product looks nothing like the picture.

Self taught thru mags & books. Never had a class, but did find I was able to figure out a lot of blocks/patterns by looking at pics.
I'm not at all artistic, but love the quilting process, from cutting to piecing.Have less love for the quilting/binding part LOL

Self-taught. My Mother was a great sewer and tried for years to get me interested in learning to no avail. Then I got married and decided I wanted to sew. Got a machine, a how-to book, a pattern and followed directions, frequently referring to the book. Did pretty much the same thing with quilting. I did watch several years of Simply Quilts when it was on HGTV, though!! There is still much I have not even attempted to do and may never learn!!

My Mom taught me to sew at a fairly young age. Learning to embroider came first when I was about 6 years old. Then came 4-H club in grade school, home-ec in Jr. High. Then Mom had me making some of my own clothes. Later my older sister encouraged me to improve on my skills. Quilting did not come until I was married and had my family. I worked in a fabric store and became interested in the quilting. I did take alot of classes just because I enjoyed being with the other quilters. I lived in Alaska and those gals were so much fun to be with in class, plus we had some really good instructors there. I have to say I learned alot in the classes I took.

I am completely self taught and I hope it doesn't show, lol!
Read a lot of books and scoop up info on here and everywhere.
Not much of an adventurer, but I do love to see all the different aspects of quilting.
I now have access to some classes if I wanted and could afford it, but I just know my fibro and some other stuff, would not cooperate.
Oh well, just sewing for family and for fun! :-D
