I consider this "wild" - but I think it works because all of the fabrics are of one theme.

I like the fabric between the border to tone down the print. Check out modern art paintings...lots of color and movement just like your quilt. Remember the quilt is being given to be used and enjoyed and snuggled under.
If you like the size, just add binding for a cool modern look. I know your quilt will be appreciated with whatever you decide. |

No quilt police, so you can do what you want. If you are asking for opinions, I think too busy. You can go bright, but I would choose a solid. If you decide to go with the cute print, I'd include a small solid border like you show.

I'd use the cat fabric for another project. It will have no trouble being the focus of a new design. And I love your doggie picture, Alva. Our Shihtzu, Georgia, is much loved.

I don't think I'd use that print for the border. There is no relationship between the prints. They are totally different. The colors don't match and the prints don't coordinate. The turquoise tries to pull them together, but it's not quite enough to have it work, in my opinion. I'd find something else for the border.
I really like the quilt top. I'd try to match that dark blue or dark purple in the print for the border (I'm assuming I'm seeing the correct color on my monitor). I sometimes will take my quilt to the store and try out different colors for the border. JMHO bkay |
Neither the colors or the graphic images are harmonious to my eye. I suggest that you audition solids.

Love it with the solid border between. I love wild colorful quilts, I'm sure a charity recipient will too.

If it is well made to last and last, the art appreciation course is unnecessary :)
I love it but do you? |
Why put a border on it? Not every quilt needs a border. I make charity quilts and even though I don't know who will receive the quilt, someone living in a shelter or on the street, I try to make a nice quilt. So, I agree with those suggesting either a solid border or tone on tone. A busy border takes away from your "wild" pinwheels. I love wild!!

It's a little too wild for me, but I'm sure someone will absolutely love it! Go for it!
