Using different fabrics in the binding is fun. I sew all my leftover binding strips together to make binding for scrappy quilts. It fits right in.

Go for it! It will look cute!

This shows a recovery on a goof I made on a table runner. With advice from fellow QBs it turned out prettier than it would have originally. I ended up giving it as a gift and the recipient was impressed with my clever binding.

Anymore, I actually PLAN to have the binding different. It's fun!

if you make a different fabric and start it at 1/3 of the way down on one side, across the top or bottom, then diagonally equidistant up or down the other side, it becomes a design, not a flaw

Things always work out----especially if you walk away for a short time.

What's wonderful about quilting is that we can do what we want and don't need to explain to anyone--it is exploring our artistic side. Go for whatever works!!!

I think everyone has done that at least once so don't feel bad you're in good company. I would stop halfway and use something else that matches and finish the binding. Consider it as planned with the project.
