I love the fabric.

Luv Quilts and Cats 05-21-2010 11:13 AM

I like the dragon fabric. I agree and think the dragon should be appliqued on the red or black fabric to stand out more. Please post pictures as you go along.

Why yes it is. The other was my winter coat. If I start to sweat and can't wipe it, off it comes. for a little while. I have a spot on my right jaw I don't like to show. I know big bad boy, tatted biker.
Well I think when I turned in my road machine for a sewing machine. I also turned in my Bad boy card as well.
I think I even cried watching Bamby with my DGS. HA! HA!
No not really... I have shot to many of them to cry. Think it looks better or the fuzzy look.

Definetly looks better now. In my opinion anyways. I've always liked the clean shaven look. Also makes men look younger.

annette1952 05-21-2010 06:00 PM

Oh, forgot the other pic. That definelty is just "wrong" LOL

I picked this fabric up at Jo-anns fabric store. You might want to go on that web store to see if they have any there.
Kwiltkrazy picked up some in a differant color way, maybe she can tell you where she got it from.

You are doing a beautiful job with this .... seems like you are really using your quilting to bring out the best in the fabric design and tying the design elements all together without being obvious(which is very difficult to do). Looks like you're a natural for these art pieces....look forward to seeing more of your work.

kwiltkrazy 05-25-2010 05:37 PM

ONT: Love the diamond quilting, and the stitching around the Chinese letters.
I'll post some pictures of what I've accomplished on my quilt on my thread about quilted dragons. Haven't got it done yet, youngest son just moved out this week, and it's been really disrupted around here.
Lucinda
By the way; it's Dragon Tamer!!lol

Princess 05-25-2010 06:05 PM

I started to quilt the outer border with a (woodgrain style) stitch. I have the top and the bottom done here are a few pictures of what I have, done.
It took five full bobbins, and four hours to do each the top & bottom of the quilt.
At least these are to two long sides,
the other two are only 6 feet long. These are 7.5 feet long.
Then! The big suprise binding...

I need to put in the light gray details in the knotholes for depth

ONT - looking good. Nice job.

annette1952 05-28-2010 08:34 PM

Very Nice! You are doing an awesome job. You have alot more patience than I do. Most all my quilting is meandering the whole quilt. Quick & easy. It is alot of fun though. Can't wait to see yours completed.

Eddie 05-28-2010 09:22 PM

Wow! That looks fantastic! It does indeed look like wood. And I can see why it took so long, the detail in it is incredible.

kwiltkrazy 05-28-2010 09:51 PM

Ont: great job. I really like the graining. I really like doing it too. I love the look of dense background fillers. Really wondering what the binding is going to be.

BKinCO 05-29-2010 05:58 AM

Wow!Looks great!

Princess 05-30-2010 11:10 PM

Hi This is really looking nice, can't wait to see the finished project, Thanks for sharing, this inspires me to try something new!

kwiltkrazy 05-31-2010 08:22 AM

kwiltkrazy 06-01-2010 09:57 PM

Here is some more I've got done.
I must tell the world. I have had quite a heavy hart this past week. We had a fellow police officer killed in line of duty.
Over a f-ing hit and run accident....... We was only 29 yo.
leaves a wife, a two yo daughter, AND a two WEEK old son!
Any inquires for help go to
100 club.org for Arizona fallen officers families.

The front

I used up a few old T-shirts to cover all of the threads on the back

This is the start of the binding.

and a close up view.

And this is what I got after four hours of sewing

One lil' corner for all to see. not turned over and wipped YET!

A long view

BKinCO 06-02-2010 02:16 PM

First off, I'm very sorry for your loss. What a terrible tragedy.

And your quilt is amazing. I've never actually seen a binding done like this. It's looking great. I'm trying to decide if I have the patience for doing it this way. But I'm thinking perhaps it doesn't take quite as much fabric (as in, you can use up the ends you have left over maybe???)

It's just going to look fantastic when you're all done. Good job!

gaigai 06-02-2010 02:25 PM

Sorry about TM. Sucks.

On the other hand, your quilt is great!! That is the one you're sending me for the DQ swap, isn't it?

kwiltkrazy 06-02-2010 05:07 PM

oNT: tHAT'S SO SAD! mY FATHER WAS AN OFFICER IN THE SAME TOWN FOR 20 YEARS. MY heart goes out to the family.
Wondered why you weren't chatting me.
Love your binding, I like to do many colored bindings. It's going to look fantastic. Don't understand what you did with the t-shirts. Did you cover up your quilting?
Anyway, it is looking great! Haven't got much further. Told you my youngest moved out, well, he also made me a furry Grandmother this week. to a beautiful lab/retriever pup named Jasper. Maybe someday I will get the real thing, still I won't hold my breath.

nwm50 06-02-2010 05:12 PM

love this...my son would beg for this one! What pattern are you selecting for this?

burnsk 06-02-2010 07:04 PM

ONT - so sorry about that officer. My heart goes out to his family and will send up prayers for them. My niece and nephew are EMT/fire fighters and my nephew is also the arson investigator for a major metropolis. I worry about them constantly when they are at work. I know the jobs are different but I worry about the dangers. And, yes, they have been shot at answering calls.

Your quilt - what can I say - it is absolutely outstanding and a work of art. I'm getting a wall ready to hang it (just in case) LOL

Eddie 06-03-2010 12:55 PM

That really sucks about the officer getting killed. I hate to hear about idiots that kill good people like that.

The quilt is off the charts, man! That quilting in the border is superb, and the binding is phenomenal! :D

AkAngel 06-05-2010 04:12 PM

Wow, I just found this thread and have been reading it. Your quilt is a fantastic piece of art. You should enter into competition somewhere. I can't even imagine quilting it on a small machine Kudos to you.
Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us and I can't wait for the koi quilt.
