I think the blue and pink read as a solid. either need to add same two on other side or separate them (one of each side). Colors are very pretty and pattern is cool!
Can't wait to see the finished quilt

I'm not loving the two florals with the white background in the top right and left hand corners. I think it's too much white. I do like you pattern and block however. It will be a soft and mellow quilt when done.

I love the pattern. What is the name of it? I do think your block would look better with more contrast. Maybe more solids with the florals?

Some people have referred to it as "card trick", but it is different from that. It's called "Spinning Color Wheel" and is on the Quilters Cache website http://www.quilterscache.com/S/Spinn...heelBlock.html

I think you did a great job. I would suggest checking online for photos of the block. When I made my first quilt, I did not know about contrast and was more intersted in how well the fabrics "matched". I believe your block is supposed to look like cards-picture them overlapping in a fanned circle.

I like it!!

blueangel 05-26-2011 05:26 AM

I think it will be very pretty.

try alternating light, dark, light, dark, etc, but I would not use solids. I would use all prints!

JACRN 05-27-2011 03:04 PM

like the softness.

It is pretty, and I thought it was the card trick which I really like, so maybe a little solids like mentioned will do it justice. You are doing a good job, post after you decide the outcome. Thanks for posting and asking our opinions. You have a blessed day.

I really like it, especially with the white on white border

TacoMama 05-30-2011 05:53 AM

A little too busy, but it is pretty.

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!! Sorry, I just couldn't resist!! You block looks just awesome!!

I think the only problem is color placement. If you alternate light/dark on your fabrics, each card would show up more. I personally think scrappy is "magic".. you can combine the strangest fabrics you own, and while an individual block might not shine by itself it seems to work once they're all in a quilt. My quilt buddies are always amazed what I do with their "ugly" scraps or yardage.. and I don't do anything more than balance the colors!

Somehow I missed this message digest. This is a very cool block. Where did you get the pattern? Have you put more of them together now? If so, I'd love to see them!!!!!

I'm repeating myself here, but it will save you going back over the whole 9 pages....... It's called "Spinning Color Wheel" and is on the Quilters Cache website http://www.quilterscache.com/S/Spinn...heelBlock.html

I've put this on the back burner for now.......but I'll come back to it several projects later. Thanks everyone for your input - I'm learning so much about colour value. C9P
