Thanks for showing pictures of it. I have never seen a machine like this before.

Cool.

Am I the only one who'd rather have the machines separate? Very cool, but not for me.

Cool, never heard of it.

I think they were available in the mid to late 80s. My DH looked into getting one for me( I think it was a New Home). In the end he decided against because he felt if one part(machine) went bad, you would not be able to use the other either. that was also the feeling of the sewing store owner where he had asked about one. I don't know anyone that actually had one though.

Oh I forgot! See the lever in the front of the sewing machine? That locks it to the table. When you want to use the serger, flip the lever and it swivels around!!! It is just too cool!!!! :)

I did some reading on the net and I think the serger part of this machine is only a 2 thread serger....so this would be very, very limiting if true. overcasting etc. needs really a 3 to 5 thread overcast.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing the pictures!!

No, you're not the only one. Interesting but not for me either.

I worked in a store that sold them in the late 80's, very early 90's. If I remember correctly, it only did a 2 thread overlock stitch, but I could be wrong there. The machine was on a swivel base that you could turn to whichever type machine you wanted to use. I don't think we ever sold one and they weren't out very long. We did have one in the store I played with a good bit, though.
