This is amazing. You have perfectly captured the personality of the dog. I have no suggestions of how to quilt it. I can never decide how to quilt my quilts. I can't wait to see what you come up with. I wouldn't add the tulle, I like how it looks without it.

Oh you did an awesome job on that dog. The eyes grabbed me first thing; like it's looking right at you.

Oh my gosh! Your doggie is fantastic! I have never attempted a collage, but the ones I've seen are usually highlighted with thread painting. You could do as much or as little as you want.

I missed following thus journey, but the end is gorgeous! Was this a pattern? Did you fuse down the pieces or top,sew down...dd did one of her weimeriners, using a pattern, sewing the pieces down...lots of work....but well worth it's!

I would simply outline. Depending on the size of the head, you could outline the outer edge and echo stitch a bit inside the edge and then outline the nose, mouth and eyes. That should be more than adequate quilting and accentuate the head. As far as the 'wood', I would follow the grain lines on the wood and leave it at that.

It is a wonderful piece and I sure can identify with your quilting decisions. I would trace this and draw in thread painting lines to have a really clear idea of direction for all parts. Once you begin thread painting it is so easy to become confused as to "where next?" I would use several different black/ grey tones to paint with. The background... I agree with others that a vertical elongated stipple that isn't as dense to follow the grain. Good luck. I can't wait to see the finish. Your work is always great.

Well Done Watson!
Quilting? It depends only on how you're going to display this. Unless you expect it to be handled..don't bother!
