Quilting? It depends only on how you're going to display this. Unless you expect it to be handled..don't bother!

...... aha! the Master of the Trade has spoken!!
(or perhaps I should say, Mistress?:))

Your sweet little poochie just comes alive off of the page. What a great job you have done.

Sorry, I am no help about what you should do next, I just wanted to tell you how much I love your quilt.

Lori Kennedy has a woodgrain FMQ pattern that's really easy and looks great. You can see it at: http://theinboxjaunt.com/quilt/free-...ing-tutorials/
I think that would enhance the beauty of the background of this piece. Great job!

It wasn't a pattern. Here's the thread with the picture that Watson started with https://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f...t-t297629.html

Thanks, cashs_mom....Geri B....I glued all the pieces down a la Susan Carlson, then I cut it out and glued it to the background. Now, I think I will sandwich it and follow the contour lines of his face with quilting and then do the background in vertical lines. I plan to finish it with a knife edge facing.

That's today's plan, anyway....

Oh my gosh Watson...you are so talented and did an amazing job on your collage. I’m sure something will pop into your head about quilting him.

What a cutie! I would do some thread play.

I have been following a woman named Susan Carlson who teaches classes on fabric collage. She is the one who made the big alligator quilt. I think she sews over tulle but am not sure if she outlines or meanders.

That sounds like a good plan! Show us the finish, please!
