the flower border is applique. aside from that, there's a lot of paper piecing.
i would consider this intermediate, with an understanding of piecing, applique and paper piecing. if you take it one block at a time and carefully follow the instructions and be very patient you should be able to accomplish it. just go slowly . by the time you finish it, you'll have learned a lot and you'll have a beautiful quilt
to show for it. dive in.
if you have problems or questions along the way, the board is here help you out.

Jeanne, that's so true! I tried a block of Dresden Star which is quite a project. All through it I was told it was way above my expertise and you know...it came out beautiful and I told them what you just said! How can I get the expertise if I don't try!

Carol Doak's Books have the best instrucitons for PP. They are worth the investment. Once you get started you will be hooked on PP. Good Luck

oh man...now I am going to have to make that quilt, it's gorgeous! But I think it's probably intermediate. No problem!

My DD made this quilt for her friend who helped her through RCIA to join the Catholic Church. It came out beautiful.

Which of the blocks do you think is the best to start with? The easiest of all the others?

ruthieg 09-28-2010 03:44 PM

DD said the blocks need extra on the edges as tiny pieces fray out. I would start with one that has the least number of pieces.

The pattern looks very complicated to me. But you know your skills, so give it a try. Make a block or two before cutting all of the quilt.
