Definitely the dark. It POPS!

FERSID 09-29-2011 05:13 AM

Oh wow! So hard of a choice.

My first thought is the Dark - what pop it brings to the reds - really gets your attention.

The Light on the other hand is more subdued - the florals are still quite exciting but the overall quilt has a more quieting affect.

So it depends on where you plan on showcasing the quilt.

I tend to lean toward the Dark as I really like the colour enhancement.

The above being said - likely not much help. LOL

itwrx4me 09-29-2011 05:14 AM

I think it depends on what pattern you will be quilting on it. That would make a difference. But I do love both!

lillybeck 09-29-2011 05:14 AM

I like them both so it depends on what you want the look to be. The dark is dynamic but the light is beautiful.

vivoaks 09-29-2011 05:15 AM

I started working on one with a light background when I first started quilting. At the moment, I have 2 quilts in progress that have dark backgrounds (one black & one very dark purple) and one with a mixed light backround. I like them all, so it doesn't really matter to me.

joycecil 09-29-2011 05:34 AM

Light for me!

littlharley 09-29-2011 05:43 AM

the dark makes your design pop out !!! looks great !

JeanLowe 09-29-2011 05:47 AM

Definitely the dark

catmcclure 09-29-2011 05:49 AM

How about making it reversible - dark one side, light the other.

sash 09-29-2011 05:54 AM

I think both are really pretty, but if I had to pick just one, guess it would be the light, just because of the mottled fabric. On the other hand, I really like the black too and have been wanting to make a quilt with black background and really bright blocks.
Ohh, really good idea Cat.

Make both...and ya can send me the one that is not needed. ha ha ha.. Good luck deciding on the one... they are both fantastic.

RDM 09-29-2011 06:01 AM

Both work well, but I love how the floral colors pop against the black. Will this quilt hang in your home, if so, what works there?

psquared52 09-29-2011 06:02 AM

Both are beautiful but I love the drama of the black!

quiltingnonie 09-29-2011 06:03 AM

I also love the dark -- but it would depend on who the quilt is for and their particular style. I can think of several people I could give it to that would LOVE the light one, as well as several that would prefer the dark. Big help, huh?

Grambi 09-29-2011 06:05 AM

Both are striking. If I had to choose, I would probably go with the dark.

Jennifer22206 09-29-2011 06:05 AM

both.

But, I think it would depend on where the quilt is going, or who it's going to.

gramarraine 09-29-2011 06:14 AM

Light one for me!

Linsoblu 09-29-2011 06:18 AM

I like both one of each is my vote.

Tudey 09-29-2011 06:19 AM

the dark is very dramatic.

grannypat7925 09-29-2011 06:19 AM

Both are great but somehow I prefer the light.

grandjan 09-29-2011 06:20 AM

The dark!

hokieappmom 09-29-2011 06:20 AM

Love the dark!

QKO 09-29-2011 06:24 AM

OK, thanks for all the input. Looks like there is a split, lots of light votes and lots of dark votes.

So... we've decided to offer both kits.

debby wicke 09-29-2011 06:26 AM

I prefer the dark...beautiful

IdahoSandy 09-29-2011 06:27 AM

Light is much better.

Mona Lisa 2011 09-29-2011 06:27 AM

The pattern is called Shenandoah by Creative Sewlutions.

Janiceanne 09-29-2011 06:28 AM

They are both very striking - but if I had to choose, I would choose the black background - it is very dramatic and rich looking!!

WOW

yayaquilts 09-29-2011 06:32 AM

I like the light one best!

SusanL 09-29-2011 06:37 AM

Without a doubt ....the dark! The colors really pop and show energy. Love it.

tatavw01 09-29-2011 06:38 AM

Dark Background

sdclk 09-29-2011 06:40 AM

I prefer the drama of the dark. The light is soothing. So it depends on the recipient.

hoofmaiden 09-29-2011 06:40 AM

Take me to the dark side!

Hard choice but I like the light just a tiny bit better.

At first I liked the dark so I went back and looked again, the light do make the flowers pop. Wow, I am no help!

elm 09-29-2011 06:43 AM

The dark really makes the colors pop.

Nanaquilts44 09-29-2011 06:44 AM

I prefer the dark background but the light is nice too.

quilter65 09-29-2011 06:45 AM

LOVE the darker background. Getting ready to do a appliqued quilt on black. Beautiful!!
Sally

jme 09-29-2011 06:47 AM

They both look good but if it were made for me I would prefer the lighter one.

domo 09-29-2011 06:57 AM

I like them both, but the dark really pops the colors. IMHO :)
