When I asked about it, they advised me to give them a copy of the receipt so they have it on record, but, it didn't cost extra. It goes under the replacement value of your belongings, like jewerelly, cameras, etc.

Yes we did add on a rider to our original policy. And we added an est. for fabric, attachments, etc. So if I remember right, we added a $40,000 rider. The LA was right under $25,000. We also have a rider for my DH's guns and my jewelry. Our Homeowner policy with out the rider, would only cover up to a certain dollar amt of contents of the house.

i checked with my agent- did not have to increase our insurance- but made sure it was included on the inventory list- with ALL DOCUMENTS showing the cost.
you should add to your inventory list any quilts-with documentation too- if you have a fire- the insurance will only allow you the cost of going to walmart and buying a blanket-for replacement- unless you have documentation that it is worth more than that..
when we bought our house my hubby made me sit down with our insurance agent- and go over the whole quilting (thing) with him- my investment--the (risks involved) of having other people's quilt tops in my home-for quilting--

it's a good idea- different insurance companies-and policies will have their own (answers)

Yes, I had to take a business policy out, as my homeowners wouldn't give me a rider, nor would any of the companies I called in our area.

I didn't initially, but I do now.
