When I first learned to sew clothes, my instructor, a very experienced seamstress, told me to leave my pins in and fly over them. Since I started quilting, I pull pins out and cant imagine doing it her way anymore! I just made my first clothing project in years, and pulled pins as I went. I've broken a few needles, but nothing compared to what happened to you!
Hope your machine comes home fast, clean, and in perfect shape.

Next time; try putting pins in at an angle; you won't break the needle. I try to avoid pins but this is my backup when I don't. It's a simple and easy way to help prevent anquish and terror when you mess up your machine.

Linda, what a frustration during this busy gift giving season upon us. I have broken plenty of needles and bent a lot of pins but have never bent the shaft, etc. Hope you can find a loaner machine while your new one is being repaired. Thanks for sharing your story to remind the rest of us to be careful of pins. Linda

No but that is why I use spray to hold my quilts. I don't have to stop & remove pins anymore .Sorry that you had this much trouble. Wish I lived near you I would let you use one of my machines. God Bless

I use 505 spray to put my quilts together in "the sandwich". Then I don't have to worry about pins at all. I hope your machine is fixed fast.

I have done this not once but twice with my Pfaff expressions2.0 Luckily it was under warranty so I was not out of pocket. Both time it was in the shop for a month. In both times I pieced and sanwiched 3 quilts so when I got it back I had a LOOONG strech of quilting to do :)

Wow! So sorry, dear. Isn't there someone somewhere nearby where you can rent or borrow a machine to get your Christmas quilting done? So sorry for you.
Judy

I have 2 Husqvarna's -on one I hit a pin and broke a needle-but was no harm to machine-I guess I was lucky.
