I think kids like panel quilts better. The pictures on the panels is what counts. I have done "real" quilt block quilts for young people and frankly -- the panels are a much better choice.

I agree with you Jan

your grandson will LOVE the quilt!!! my son just loves cars and TOW MATER is his fave!!! you rock!!!
BTW is it your daughter or daughter-in-law???just wondering... |
I'm sure he will love it. Especially with a map on the back. I use panels alot for my sons quilts. I don't want his quilts to be all flowery and girly like the rest of my fabric. I think it's harder to make a quilt for a boy so I wouldn't let it bother you. :) I already bought him wildlife panels for when he grows up more and I can make him bigger quilts.

quilt [kwɪlt]
n 1. a thick warm cover for a bed, consisting of a soft filling sewn between two layers of material, usually with crisscross seams 2. a bedspread or counterpane 3. anything quilted or resembling a quilt That is the definition of "quilt". You are making a quilt for your grandson, because you love him. And he will love it. Don't let yourself be hurt by her words. |
ur grandson will love his quilt! and sounds like he won't have to share with his mom.lol it is hard not to be miffed, but just let it go, the quilt is about u and ur grandson.

I worked harder keeping the panel from getting wonky than I did on his other "real" quilts! Kinda hoping he likes it just cause his tomater is on it. do any of you feel it is crappy to use a panel? I used the world on the back so when he is older, or now, he can look at the map and know his dad Army-deployed, is There.
((((((((( cherrio)))))))))Your grandson will LOVE the quilt and that is all you need . You made it for him...not his mom.... sass |
I'm sorry she made a comment that hurt your feelings. It doesn't sound like she has ever made a handmade gift for someone else or she would understand how we feel when we are making a quilt for someone we love. Your grandson will be happy with it and that was your plan to start with :-P Enjoy yourself watching him enjoy his new quilt. Take a picture to remind yourself of that and share it with us - you know we would love to see it :P
Non-quilters don't realize the time (how could they?) and heart involved in a quilt. Try not to be hurt by what she said, she just doesn't know any better. |
