Ruth and Minda likes the blue print.........THANKS!.... Well, I'll bet somebody sometime had pj's or boxer shorts from this fabric. My cousin got this from a garment factory and gave my aunt a huge box of scraps. I inherited it and washed several loads of the scraps.........many shades of blues and a couple stacks of sage green and a lot of white. The white is a crisp fabric which I suspect is polyester/cotton blend. I don't use much blue except navy and royal blues. So the navy I already had and the print scraps went well together.

nanabirdmo 01-13-2008 04:51 PM

on the go, loved your block and i know sharon will treasure it.
the fab is fab. in the old days a lot of quilts were made with "shirting" and some was aquired just like yours was. what a great way to make a "green" project.
p.s. your workmanship is very good. don't ever be reluctant to show your work. no quilt police here

I FINALLY got these done! Sorry it took for what seemed like forever! The girls picked the fabric, the solid blue and white is from Jasmine's Halloween costume, the drk blue check w/o lady bugs is from Alicia's, the tiny blue floral and the check with lady bugs my mother donated. The girls had fun doing the thumbprint people in the center squares! Thanks Wendy for the wonderful idea!! Sorry about the quality of the pics, my cam has issues lately!

It says forever in our hearts, John and Lisa 2008

Wow! All the blocks are so pretty. Thank you for sharing.

Has anyone heard how things are going with MimiSharon and her husband. I was going to check the Main board or ??? to see if I had missed updates.

Those are adorable Lisa! :) Sharon is going to love them :)

Nothing wrong with your block! I seen NOTHING wrong with it. Only God is perfect so the rest of us "Pros" as you called us have some room for error and we all make them....regularily!

Thanks for sharing your lovely block. I, too, like the print fabric.

What is this 'amateur work"? I see a beautiful block that is well made! :) If we are 'Pro's', then you need to take your rightful place with us. :) :)

Love the block. :)

PamH - I love that block! I am so partial to blue along with blue and white. Will have to keep an eye out for that fabric!

annmarie 02-19-2008 08:16 PM

Has anyone heard from Sharon lately? I don't get to chat much so maybe there has been an update there. But we haven't heard from her in awhile so I was just wondering how Roy is doing & Sharon too.

Wow! Beautiful butterfly block! That is really special.

quiltmaker101 02-20-2008 06:52 AM

Here is some information for everyone:

I have not heard from Sharon in a few weeks. She was supposed to bring Roy home from the hospital on Valentine's Day. I do not know if she was able to do that, but since there have been no new updates, I have to assume that she did and has her hands very full taking care of him full time at home.

As most of you know, Roy had a stroke just before Christmas, and has had a tough time in the hospital. The last we heard, Sharon was trying to get hospital equipment for their home, such as a bed, and probably wheelchair and walker, etc.

All we can do is keep her and Roy in our hearts and prayers, and wait for an update.

Thank you everyone for the beautiful blocks you have sent and are still sending! She posted more than once how much they mean to her and to Roy also.

PamH 02-20-2008 06:57 AM

Wendy
How many blocks got sent and do we need more for her quilt?

I estimate that Sharon received less than 60, but more than 50. Some people already had her address, and I am only counting by those that PMd me for her information.

I think she has plenty to keep her busy now! She has been hand embroidering them where people (like me) wrote in pen.

Feathers 02-20-2008 09:09 AM

Carol:
Your block is GORGEOUS! I love the embroidery in the center block. What a beautiful addition that is going to make to all the other wonderful, gorgeous, beautiful blocks people have made. Good Job. Love it! If you have others that you'd like homes for I can send you my address?

Hi Annmarie:
I, too, have wondered about Sharon and Roy. Patrice, if you are reading this do you know anything?

kathy 02-20-2008 10:02 AM

LOL I'm not Patrice but we asked each other this morning.
AND, where is shadowdancer? she was keeping us updated.

Butterflyspain 05-07-2008 05:31 AM

Hi, just saw this, now is this still running and do you still want more blocks. If so can I contribute mine, only thing I am a long way from you all in America. Think this is just such a lovely idea.
Please let me know as I would love to contribute Regards Elle

quiltmaker101 05-07-2008 05:44 AM

I am sure Sharon would welcome additional blocks. She has been embroidering the ones she got that were written in pen, and someday she will have the time to sew them together. Until then, there is no reason she can't get more in the mail!

As for an update, Roy has good and bad days, but Sharon is prepared to let go. She is enjoying what time they have left together and has a good attitude.
Roy sleeps a lot, and the nurses tell her that is a sign he is "shutting down."

She really appreciates all your thoughts, prayers and quilt blocks!

Butterflyspain 05-07-2008 05:54 AM

Hi okay, I will contribute, just so sad about Roy. Sorry I am all choked up reading your post on him.

Where do I send this to please. Thanks Elle

quiltmaker101 05-07-2008 06:07 AM

I sent you her address in a Private Message, ButterflySpain.

Butterflyspain 05-07-2008 06:08 AM

Thank you Wendy. Will be making this week and sending it of soon as.

Regards Elle

beachlady 05-07-2008 06:33 AM

Quiltmaker, I too just saw this post and would love to send Sharon a block. And it is a block I have made and can actually do!!! Have lots of blues. Hope to hear from you soon with Sharon's address.

Hi Quiltmaker and Everyone:
Last week I sent MimiSharon a PM and she replied that "it made her day" to receive my message so I was really glad I sent it. I didn't know if she'd be up to e-mails from strangers. Like Elle from Spain said, I got choked up hearing about Roy this morning. I just can't even imagine how horribly hard it would be if something happened to my wonderful DH. Hugs and prayers to Mimi, Roy and their family.

Sew N' Snow 05-07-2008 09:45 AM

Quiltmaker, You are so thoughtful and it is nice that you picked a simple pattern...I would love to participate...

quiltmaker101 05-07-2008 10:06 AM

Well, thank you, Sew N Snow!

I am glad that there is new interest in this project for Sharon and Roy. It seems like such a small thing to do. I would rather that I lived near her and could bring casseroles or help with housecleaning, and let her have some time away from the house to breathe.

Thank you everyone who has participated and who will be sending blocks her way!

beachlady 05-07-2008 07:58 PM

I made Sharon 2 blocks today and they will be in the mail tomorrow. I am not sure if I know how to post pix, but will try in the morning after taking some.
