I hope you are not disappointed with HF blades. I ordered the rotary cutter a while back and am very disappointed. It will barely cut paper, will not even make a dent in fabric.

Patty You didn't get the MEMO? The website is out, but you may still find them in the physical stores. You are looking for the Replacement Carpet Cutter Blades. They come 2 to a pkg. I have heard on here that the website is all on backorder ( one gal said til October)and most all of the stores are either out or really close to it. I have a raincheck for 10 pkg and they say that it will be about a week. Good luck.. |
I found only three packs at HF store in Huntsville AL.

The sign had $1.49 but the amount she charged didn't agree with the figure in my head. When I looked at my receipt they were $1.19......discount!

I'm new to this, so what is the difference in these blades you speak of and regular rotary blades?? Is this something I need to scour GA for??

I did get a cutting glove AKA fishermans' filet glove at HF, also the cotton gloves with rubber dots on them to hold on to fabric when quilting. The filet glove was about $7.50 and the dotted ones cost ,e abpit $1/50 for 3 pairs. JoAnns wanted $25.00 for the cutting glove from F & P. :lol:

This board is awesome! Just ran out out to HF at lunch time and scoffed up 9 pkgs of the blades at $1.49 ea. I am wondering if anyone has tried the carpet cutter they have that the blades are for? That was $3.99, I didn't get that, if it works, I can always stop in for that too.

These carpet cutter blades...do they fit the standard rotary cutters??

When I heard about this, I went to there website and at first ordered 5 packages. I also had set up an account after that so I could trace the order. It never showed as me having ordered. Called them and they said under $10.00 dollars they would not hold or have a backorder on. They automatically had canceled that order, but, I never received any notice from them.
I went back to the website and ordered 10 now I am sitting on the backorder list with some of you |

Before I went to local HF I went on line and found them- wrote down the article # price- and how they are sold. So I was ready whenever someone asked what they were and what they were used for. I took all they had and that was 5 packs at $1.49 per pack. Thanx to the Ladies here that gave a good heads up on that big savings for us quilters.

Alright. I think I understand now, although no one ever answered my question about what kind of blades these are, if they fit standard rotary cutters, etc. I will try to find them here at our local HFT.

I just went to the HF in Albany since I am out of town there at the moment and bought the last two that they had. I also bought the cutter thinking it might be nice to use for when I cut template plastic... we shall see.
When I told hubby about this he tried to make it sound like I didn't need it because I bought 2 blades when on clearance a month ago. I wanted to tell him that I don't say a word when he spends tons of money to play golf and all the tournaments he has joined this year, but I bit my lip (hold that for something more expensive :lol: ) Thanks for the info gals!! I now have more stuff in my pile for when I need them! |
I have a question about these blades, do they hurt your cutting mat? I was wondering about them, we don't have any of those stores around here and I have never heard of them before, and was wondering if you could order the blades on line or not. Will be waiting for any of your answers and thanks in advance for the info.

Yesterday we were in WM and I made a point to go see how much blades were in there $4.59 for ONE BLADE. That's ridiculous - at the most it's about .0000001¢ worth of steel. Talk about majorly ripping people off. A few people keep asking about whether these blades will cut the mat. Now really, I don't GET that question. If the blade is dull enough to not mar the mat, it's too dull to use. And my mat is showing lots of wear and tear before I ever even heard of these HF blades (this is the BIG white mat from Joanns) Haven't tried cutting on a green or grey mat yet. I have 2 of the BIG white ones from JoAnn. I use them for garment layouts, but they are permanently damaged by rotary blades, although I have had them for 18 years and have used rotary cutters on them.. The green or gray ones resist the cuttting much better. |

I'm still waiting on my order which is back ordered. We don't have that store in Maine to my knowledge.

Mine was sold out of blades so I bought the cutter for $3.99. When I got home I discovered there were 4 blades in the package. That works for me. :)

I went to our Harbor Freight store the other day, and they
did not have the blades and they did not seem to even know what I was talking about. Hubby says we'll go this weekend and check out another one that waaaay out of town. Hes so sweet to volunteer to go that far for me. |
I CALLED OUR HF AND HE SAID NO ONE IN DENVER AREA HAD ANY. HE DID FIND 20 IN GREELEY,CO. MY WONDERFUL HUSBAND TOOK ME FOR A RIDE (70 ) MILES AND I GOT ALL 20 PACKS. 10 FOR ME AND 5 FOR SISTER AND 5 FOR SEWING FRIEND. HE SAID IT COST HIM IN GAS BUT WE ENJOYED THE RIDE AND MADE A DAY OUT OF IT.

My only addition to this would be to be really careful opening the package, they are shrink wrapped tightly. Catlady - if you are near Loves Park in N. IL, they are out right now. I got the last few pkgs. they had last Thurs. Sorry:(

Maybe I am looking at the wrong blades. |
You are looking at the wrong blades. A pack of two is $1.49. There are also cutters with three blades for $3.99. If they are out, you may want to buy those, still cheaper than those at JoAnn's with a 40% discount. They are 45' blades.

I got mine the other day they had to get an older man to know what I was looking for, I took all 3 packs he had and he says to me doing a lot of carpeting? I said no sewing. Will check when I get down there again for more. Over 50 miles one way/
They are not with the sissors and other cutting things, over by carpeting supplies. |

Maybe the ones I got are from a bad batch, but they are dull and skip. I got 2 packs @ $1.49/pk. I've tried a blade from each pack, on two different cutters, and they cut like reg. Olfa blades that have been used for a while, have to recut and use lots of pressure. I'll be keeping them to cut paper or household use.
