I always plant to purchase one, but when I see the price, I back out. I can purchase fat quarters for $1 and can pick and choose what I want/like. Purchasing precuts is sorta like buying a "pig-in-a-poke" to me. What if I just don't like most of them?
However, I might take a chance on 20. |
I hate cutting and/or matchine fabric. I buy mostly FQs and I would buy 10" squares if they were on sale. Sometimes you can get them really reasonable.

None. I've never used precuts.

I LOVE jelly rolls. I like them in 40 sets, but have found larger sets and prefer the larger sets, such as 50 strips.
Layer Cakes are great for D9P but typically they are pretty pricey. Charm paks I have an abundance of because I cut 5" squares from my larger scraps. |

I cringe when I see the prices then go and get fabric by the bolt. One of these days I might splurge.... |
I really don't use many precuts, but when I do it is mostly charms, a few Fat Eighths, and Fat Quarters. I really prefer yardage.

I just got my first ever pre-cuts in about 20 years of quilting. I don't usually buy anything pre-cut but wanted a kit for a Moda pattern and pre-cuts was how it was packaged. I have not used it yet, so don't know how I will like it. In the end I almost always purchase yardage rather than pre-cuts because I tend to not like scrappy quilts and I feel yardage gives me more options on how to use the fabric.

I haven't used any of these either - I buy by the yard

It really is dependent on what you want to make! Some like strip friendly blocks, some like more creativity to their blocks....I am not a fan of any pre-cuts!

I made a really pretty colorfalls with jelly rolls, and a couple of quilts for the gk's with charm packs. Found out I like FQ's or yardage best.
