I usually play movies in the DVD player or I have my ipod on my favorites playlist.

sueisallaboutquilts 02-25-2011 08:21 PM

From April-November it's Yankees games for me. The rest of the year it's music lol :D:D

CarrieAnne 02-25-2011 08:25 PM

Yes, usually Older country and the 70s rock, NOT disco, lol!!!!!!!

gzuslivz 02-25-2011 08:27 PM

I listen to Christian or light classical on the radio. When the sewing room is painted, I will have my new flat screen tv up that my dh got me for Christmas. I tried audio books, but my mind wanders and I can't remember what I just listened to. Movies I can track.

ontheriver 02-25-2011 08:37 PM

I turn on my ipod, wear wireless headphones which keeps out the machine noise and sew away.

akgranny 02-25-2011 08:39 PM

welllll, i loaded up my 'puter with elvis! now there's music for any mood, any project!

EllijaysUFOqueen 02-25-2011 08:46 PM

Yes, yes, yes. Love to listen to music especially when sewing, etc. Yanni, classical, country, soft rock, love the 80's music, piano music, celtic music and others. Just need to stop.

hperttula123 02-25-2011 09:04 PM

Yes....something has to be on all the time, whether it is a tv or music going. I need the background noise.

cathylynn 02-26-2011 01:09 AM

gotta have music on when I quilt - Motown, little rock (Tom Petty, Doobies), 60's oldies - no disco!

Aurora 02-26-2011 02:16 AM

Yanni or Music from the 40's, 50's, and 60's.

mhuskins1 02-26-2011 02:35 AM

Like you tunes !!!!
Billy Thorpe children of the sun , hoping I can see that today !!!! need to recharge my batties so I can get inspired to finish this kitchen Set !!!!

Yooper32 02-26-2011 03:31 AM

For me, I like listening to classic country or classic rock on the radio or, on CD, it is Celtic Woman, Harry Chapin, Kenny G, or Manheim Steamroller. My player in the sewing room is a one CD'er, so I mostly play the radio but the 6player in the LR is mostly used when I am busy and not wanting to change them often and it is easily heard in the sewing room.

olebat 02-26-2011 03:35 AM

Often there is nothing more than the sounds of the outdoors coming into my room, the music of the birds and rain are my favorites. Then, when the leaf blowers, lawnmowers, chain saws or chippers crank up I switch to the 5 disk player. Almost anything goes, but I can't have it over power the thoughts in my head. When I changed disks last night, I removed ABBA, Yanni, Enya, PDQ Bach, and Classical Jukebox and replaced them with Camana Briana, Schuman, and Clanid. I often listen to internet radio, whatever strikes my fancy. 50's 60's, soft rock, Broadway, light opera, bluegrass, classical, musicals . . . I'd like to get XM, but it doesn't transmit that far in the house. I usually like music which has a beat no faster than my normal heart rhythm, and does not have clashing cords for sewing and cutting. I save that for when I'm getting ruthless with cleaning.

mhuskins1 02-26-2011 03:38 AM

my I Pod is on shuffle
I have 489 songs right now and the list is added to every Month !!!!
Some of everything !!!!
I have to hit forward some times, and do that several times when something comes on that is stopping my creatative moment.

Moon Holiday 02-26-2011 03:45 AM

I always have music on when I'm sewing.... mostly listen to blues and classical.

glowworm 02-26-2011 03:46 AM

I-Tunes/classical

uniquelynancy 02-26-2011 03:48 AM

ME!!! I can't work without the Oldies!!

minstrel 02-26-2011 03:53 AM

I have to have something on always. Sometimes it's music (country, Sinatra/standards, classic rock, Christian, blues, oldies) sometimes movies - depends on my mood. Helps me get in my groove.

OMG, you sound like me! I am in the middle of listening to a series of books, The Shenandoah Series by Emilie Richards:

1. Wedding Ring
2. Endless Chain
3. Lover's Knot
4. Sister's Choice
5. Touching Stars

In that order.

Very good stories - all related around quilting. The narration is fantabulous. Very southern (and I love a southern accent).

And I love classical music, Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart. And I love to listen to Luciano Pavoratti.

Lucky for me our library sells their older cd audio books and their tape audio books, so I have a real collection here. Then when I am done with them I give them to a friend who takes them up north and gives them to the Lions Club for blind people to "see" some good books! I am waiting with bated breath for the next Jennifer Chiaverini book "The Union Quilt" to be delivered to our library. I have a request for it. First one on the list, too! Can't wait til that comes in. It is coming out in March.

If you want the names of some really good ones PM me and I will be glad to let you know of some. Be sure and read all of Jennifer Chiaverini's books! They are so good! Edie
