Thank you Denni,
I just searched Pandora Radio for Chris Botti....I too, am now madly in love with his music....Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

quiltnmom 02-26-2011 02:11 PM

I usually have the TV on something I don't actually have to watch. Either a movie I've seen so many times I could quote it myself like "You've Got Mail" "Pretty Woman" those are my favorites. This time of year it's either NASCAR or golf.

neeng 02-26-2011 02:20 PM

Is your computer in your sewing room? Find a radio station anywhere in the world, and let the music in.....I get better reception on the PC than on my radio (and a better selection).

Rock and roll is my preference although I like some of all kinds.

nana D 02-26-2011 02:28 PM

The best day is to be in my quilting room with the "Easy Listening" music low and sewing.

butterflies5518 02-26-2011 02:43 PM

Yep, stereo with whatever my mood is that day.

annpryor 02-26-2011 02:46 PM

I love Indian flute music, western and classical music when I am creating on any of my projects.

PolkaBabe 02-26-2011 02:51 PM

If I don't have tv on for the background noise I will have my POLKA music (waltz, two-step etc.) Sometimes I will have both going. In the sewing room itself there are two websites that have my music 24/7 :)

bamamama 02-26-2011 02:53 PM

I have my Ipod in my craft room.. I have a TV in there but find it to be distracting. Music is nice

sammy89 02-26-2011 03:07 PM

TV only need the noise

Val in IN 02-26-2011 03:11 PM

Yes, anything from The Beatles to George Jones, ZZ top to Luciano Pavarotti, and everything in between. Music makes the world a better place.

catlover 02-26-2011 03:40 PM

I have only satellite Serius radio. We live pretty far from town. It's classical for me. Keeps me calm.

I love to listen to classical, popular classics, easy listening, etc, etc. and I also like to have the TV on with a good movie or program.

hapytlk 02-26-2011 04:11 PM

me..mostly books on tape though

I've "watched" more old movies that I've never seen... love the background noise... okay..sometimes I'll turn around and catch a scene, but the story is the real thing!

Once I actually saw a movie and realized I had "seen" it in my mind while sewing... it was just as good....did that make sense???

Makes a lot of sense, I "watch" t.v. like that. No clue what these people look like, but know which voice goes with each character.

Il Divo is to die for. Listen to them all the time. ♥

Scrap Happy 02-26-2011 04:33 PM

I like to listen to country and classic rock n' roll.

fivepaws 02-26-2011 04:37 PM

Has anyone tried the Great Courses on CD? I figured I could improve my mind (what little there is left) as I stitch. Haven't ordered any yet. Just checking to see if they are worth it. ♥

supergma 02-26-2011 05:02 PM

Classic Rock

dede 02-26-2011 05:52 PM

Glad to hear from another Daniel O'Donnell fan who quilts! He is soooo good and Mary Duff is a treat to listen to also. Where are you from in Minnesota?

jitkaau 02-26-2011 06:25 PM

I like it to be very silent. The only time I listen to music is when my neighbour on the right plays his Patsy Cline and Rosemary Clooney type records (which are easy to take), in order to drown out the annoying sound of the horse races and football that my neighbour on the left likes to listen to.(I generally wear ear-muffs when the stereo sound gets too much)...

jpthequilter 02-26-2011 07:07 PM

Chillers and Thrillers dectective stories on CD books from the library!
They read/talk, I listen and sew quilts.

You mean Bob Dylan the singer?

rushdoggie 02-26-2011 07:33 PM

10 pages and so far no one else who listens to progressive or hard rock, lol.

I prefer books on tape (CD) from the library but I also listen to music (as noted above) or listen to TV. I don;t have the cable run to my sewing room so I can only watch TV on the local channels.

Yes, I have a bunch of them...The CDs work best, I think.
They are wonderful. Just finished "Bizantium" It is the Christian history of Asia Minor (think Turkey) , the Middle East, and eastern Europe for 1200 years after Christ was alive.
Curiously my favorite, so far, is "Chaos" which is about things that are not geometrical. Although it is a DVD it is good listening, from the next room.
The good thing is that if you are interested in a topic, they will eventually get it for you!
Just ask...I wanted American History from discovery to 1776, and they got it!
The history of Languages is one,
The history of English is another,
I have the Metropolitan Museum in NY and the Louvre in Paris, both lots of pictures from their collections.
Space explorations, medical stuff, about music,
American and other pieces of world history, arts and philosophy are just some of their lecture series.
Some of them are 24 lectures, others more, others less.

My 1st preference is books on CD from the library which I load onto my iPod and then TV. My radio doesn't want to get good reception in my sewing room....I also have the laptop in there when necessary.

G-Ma quilts 02-26-2011 07:39 PM

I love to listen to sirius "50's" I used to sing along until my husband ran into my sewing room thinking I was hurt lol.

Yes ! It is his biography on a CD from the library.
It is fascinating!
(Sorry I spelled it wrong)
It is sooo different than you think.
He took off years away from the public and lived on the income from his music.
Together with his wife, he loved his kids, and was a full time parent...aparently, they spoiled the kids when they were little. Those years, he tried to avoid any public life and was very unhappy about the myths that grew up around his image, which of course made it worse.
I haven't finished it yet....

Flying_V_Goddess 02-27-2011 12:03 AM

If I'm planning I listen to music. If I'm actually crafting I watch DVD's. I've had a habit of watching Gundam Wing ever since I made my denim quilt in 2007. When I was making that quilt I watched the first half of GW (as I didn't have the second half) while I was making that quilt over and over so kind of became a habit to watch while I am quilting.
