I was reading through to see if anyone else suggested pandora.com. I LOVE that! You can put in a favorite singer - or even type of music, and they make a little "radio station" for you. The music keep playing on your computer - and it even plays in the background if you change to, say, quiltingboard.com!

Just went to Pandora.com and my computer's security says it's not a safe site. Actually said it was "Very Dangeroug".?????

TXyankee 07-03-2011 07:18 PM

I listen to NPR (national public radio). The local station is news and interviews. Sometimes I turn to the classical station too.

luvstoquilt 07-03-2011 07:58 PM

Thanks for the possible reason..."high security setting". My DH is the one with all the tech 'skills' so I have no idea what it's set on. I just know that if anything happens, it's "something you must have done".

BarbaraSue 07-04-2011 08:55 AM

I tend to put in old movies that I know very well and also like to listen to, ie. Amadeaus; Ever After; Sense and Sensibility; Persuasion. but I also like musicals: The King and I; My Fair Lady; Fiddler on the Roof. I can tune my direct TV to a musical channel, big band, jazz, bluegrass.

I have used Pandora since January, and have had no problems. I have a very good security system on my computer, plus I run a cleaner every week and it has never showed any issues with this website. Maybe you can check with your tech people???

Minnisewta 07-04-2011 10:49 AM

Classic Country, Waylon and Willie, Merle, Patsy , Tammie and George. When I sewed in the dinning room I would get up and dance but in my little sewing room I don't have enough open space and it's too hard with the carpet. People who don't get country music say it is all so sad. But it's not the words it's the music, it makes me happy.

1debster 07-04-2011 11:20 AM

Depends on my mood I think usually the 80's hair bands love Def Leppard. But also Marina Raye ...very relaxing music and soft.

okiedee 07-04-2011 11:25 AM

Audio books are what I listen to...via my Ipod. Times just melts away.

Debbie C 07-04-2011 12:25 PM

John Denver to Engelbert Humperdink and anything in between!

kathieanderson 07-04-2011 03:17 PM

audio books, just love them, also like to read, but rather sew and kiill 2 birds with one stone...who ever said that? who wants to kill birds anyway

Jersey Gal 07-04-2011 04:26 PM

I turn on the radio and listen to soft rock, and oldies but goodies.

dltaylor 07-04-2011 04:27 PM

Ahh what a great idea! I'll be heading to the library this week!

I also listen to audio books when I'm sewing and handquilting - I highly recommend Fannie Flagg, any of her books, really loved 'Can't wait to get to Heaven
'. I also listen to NPR

bgullett 07-04-2011 04:49 PM

I am all over the place on music. Like all kinds, with the exception of rap. I either have the radio on or the TV.

Alli 07-04-2011 05:11 PM

My fav is a Cubs baseball game with Pat Hughes on AM radio.

piecelover 07-04-2011 06:06 PM

Sometimes I like to quilt in silence and others I either listen to a classic rock station on the radio or my Pink Floyd CDs. Depends on my mood.

sewmanyideas 07-04-2011 06:25 PM

WOW great selections----you guys are great!! Looks like Pandora and audio books are some of the top listening selections. I am going to check into Cathy Miller and Janet E. Thanks for the feedback!!!

Karen K. 07-04-2011 06:28 PM

Have any of you followed America's Got Talent? The series I am referring to was in the early spring. The little 10 yr old who sounds like an angel-she did not get the million dollar prize- has a CD out called Dream with ME Her name is Jackie Evancho. Any store which sells CDs will have it. I think Amazon carries it too. I gave one to my hubby for Father's Day and we just love it. Extremely relaxing. You wonl't believe her voice.

sewmanyideas 07-04-2011 06:32 PM

Thanks for the info:) I think my dad was talking about her the other day as well.

QuiltingJaguar 07-05-2011 05:39 AM

Now that Casey Anthony is on verdict watch I am lost. Found Rachael Ray again who I used to love. Is she PG??

Doreen 07-05-2011 06:18 AM

I listen to smooth jazz. I load a few CD's and just sew, sew, sew! I love Grover Washington (RIP). Joe Sample, Boney James and more!

darlin1942 07-05-2011 11:22 AM

Old time country through my computer. Maybe 2 commercials in an hour. Now I have a good understanding of where, rock, hillbilly, jazz, and just plain fun and great stories in the songs.

DeniseP 07-05-2011 11:46 AM

I have Rhapsody and I love it. I like Lady Gaga, Eminem, Rob Zombie, the 70's, the 80's, Pink, Journey, Pit Bull, Enrique Iglesias and lots of others. My kid's friends always laugh because their mom likes their music. I love to dance and often do when I'm ironing my quilt or whatever I'm working on. Gotta keep the dance moves fresh for Saturday nights out with my hubby!

WMUTeach 07-05-2011 11:50 AM

I do like music when I am FM but for just piecing often it is NPR or a book on CD.

Pam Riggs 07-07-2011 09:53 AM

I love country music. I usually turn my tv onto CMT.

Joyce Ann 07-09-2011 05:39 AM

I listen to John Tesh He has popular music

SharonTheriault 07-09-2011 06:29 AM

:-) Very good idea. I think my kindle has voice abilities. Will have to check that out.

mountain deb 07-09-2011 04:23 PM

I work in a nursing home, thus everything is loud. Sooo, I like my piece and quiet. When I do listen to music it is ecletic, depending on the mood at the time.

charity-crafter 07-09-2011 04:42 PM

I listen to the teeny bopper pop/rock/bouncey music station-until the kids start calling in being stupid kids then I switch over to classic rock. and some country

NauDeeGal 07-09-2011 04:58 PM

My listening choices are very eclectic.

I listen to classic rock, alternative, blues, jazz, instrumental, country, reggae, old school hiphop, R&B, Motown, country, calypso, bluegrass, pop, contemporary, folk, soundtracks, hard rock, comedians, and audio books. Not necessarily in any order either. I am open to listening to any and all music. I would like to expand my library of audio books. I only have a couple of them so far.

Barbm 07-09-2011 05:00 PM

I like peace and quiet. Or is that- piece and quiet? :)

Even when I drive I like quiet. I use the time to think.
