GREAT IDEA!!!

I have a tv going - usually on reruns of NCIS or Law and Order - just keeps me company.

Linda1 07-03-2011 11:39 AM

My TV is always on.

arimuse 07-03-2011 11:39 AM

NPR for listening to talking heads. When that starts to repeat I prefer to just let the ipod mix my music collection. Absolutely everything EXCEPT: CW, Gospel, Rap. I cant seem to live w/o sound - have it on all the time, even to fall asleep. For sleep music its newagey, just chimes, harps, soft sounds.
This time of year I listen to Chirstmas music alot, it makes me feel less stressed, I like that Chistmas feeling all yr, but sometmes its just hard to keep in you what with the evening news - sharet

madamekelly 07-03-2011 12:06 PM

Ipod, Bose headphones, and a sewing machine, Bliss!

Just finished reading "Finger licking Fifteen" by Evanovich and she had me laughing all the way thru it. Read all night to finish it.
I listen to the really old music from the '40s and the really sentimental stuff. (that ages me, huh?)

crazylady54 07-03-2011 12:20 PM

Music is good but after a busy day filled with noise I oppt for quiet.

phylby 07-03-2011 12:40 PM

I listen to my tiny ipod shuffel. It has everything from Beethoven to the Black Eyed Peas. Sometime I chime in and sing along, which gets frowns from DH.

Diane819 07-03-2011 12:47 PM

I've been on a kick about Ricky Tims lately. Anyone know him? LOL

Thanks for this idea.....kill two birds. I listen to Southern Gospel.

GABBYABBY 07-03-2011 12:50 PM

I have my radio tuned to christian music.
You know the old saying: what goes in, comes out.

GABBYABBY 07-03-2011 12:50 PM

Sorry, I sent it twice.

lovelyl 07-03-2011 12:56 PM

Most of the time I listen to an audiobook, but if the sewing requires a lot of concentration (difficult to piece block, etc.) I turn on the contemporary Christian radio station.

All of the above plus radio, Neil Diamond older songs from his Hot August Night album, Via Dela Rosa by Sandi Patti, Boccelli, and just about anything depending on my mood at the moment.

everything from medieval to punk... i love music even more than i love fabric, so it runs the gamut! if i'm working on a specific "era", though, i tend to listen to that time's music. a 30's repro fabric or pattern just screams for that time's music to be played. ditto with 40's , 50's, etc.

when i sew costuming or garb, same deal. renaissance garb demands music from those times. it's my own kind of time machine, i guess.

Momsmurf 07-03-2011 01:41 PM

Generally easy listening New Age...Yanni, George Winston, Susan Boyle, and the new one by Jackie Evancho - 'Dream With Me'. (She sings 'A Mother's Prayer" with Susan Boyle on that one and it nearly brought me to tears!).
I also go with music of the '50's and early 60's and Broadway. Hawaiian, Japanese, Celtic...
Toss in classical...but no really hard rock or whatever the "younger generation" choses to listen to. Not to my taste.

Mostly Christian music, country, if I put my spanish music, then I won't work, it makes me want to dance/ sing and I can't concentrate

Grandma Mary 07-03-2011 03:17 PM

I listen to Pandora.com on my computer, where you can make a list of your favorite musicians or songs for free. I listen to Beatles, Script, Queen, Simon&Garfunkle, Josh Groban, Adele and many more.

good ole' 80's Rock! so young...Good old Rock and Roll is 50's and 60's music! I do however listen to all types, not real fond of Jazz, Rap, or Heavy Metal ( except for all the gold and mercury in my teeth)!

madamepurl 07-03-2011 03:58 PM

I listen to books. I'm listening to The Host by Stephenie Meyer and finding it really compelling. I also have Siris/XM on my iPod and will listen to music - the 40's station or Classical, or some news. I like the BBC America programming or NPR. Sometimes they have a good program on Book radio - the old time shows like the Life of Riley that always crack me up.

patchsamkim 07-03-2011 04:20 PM

I listen to Pandora radio....or Solo Piano Radio from the computer...or I listen to cd's...or local Christian radio station...I like a variety...having on the right kind of music can really help while doing free motion quilting!

alapetitechaise 07-03-2011 04:30 PM

There isn't any music that I don't like but when I sew, it is usually big band, swing, some 30's, 40's and 50's vocals.

MsPat 07-03-2011 04:56 PM

I listen to everyone Janet Evanovick CD that I can get. She is so funny.

Manga Janet 07-03-2011 05:14 PM

I listen to audio books

joysewer 07-03-2011 05:21 PM

If I listen to anything, it is worship music.

Bluequilter 07-03-2011 05:33 PM

I listen to a variety of music .... Bee Gees, Willie Nelson, Gene Pitney, Phil Collins, old county & western, etc. And .. I like to sing along!

My kind of gal!But also throw in some Elton John, Neil Diamond Barry Manilow and Billy Joel and we have a party! LOL Boy are we dating ourselves! :)

CAS49OR 07-03-2011 05:47 PM

I use Yahoo Music, and I often listen to movie soundtracks, or "Chill Out" which is kind of a light jazz.

Tinabug 07-03-2011 06:09 PM

I love music and play my ipod every day,I clean house with my good 'ol rock & roll just blasting, however when I am sewing I like it quiet. I can't explain it but I just really focus on the project, music gets in the way. Guess I just want to get up and dance!

I was reading through to see if anyone else suggested pandora.com. I LOVE that! You can put in a favorite singer - or even type of music, and they make a little "radio station" for you. The music keep playing on your computer - and it even plays in the background if you change to, say, quiltingboard.com!

Bluequilter 07-03-2011 06:28 PM

I have those as well.

Toni-in-Texas 07-03-2011 06:35 PM

I listen to Irish Rebellion and Pub Songs, Scottish Ballads and Marty Robbins. Strange mixture, huh?

connie d 07-03-2011 06:36 PM

Depending on my mood at the time, my variety of music is wide and varied. I haven't tried the audio books yet, but I do plan on it, especially since I love to read but seldom have enough time, due to my other hobbies, quilting. :):):)
