Yarn or Fabric 07-02-2011 11:51 AM

I stream Pandora through my radio, hooked up to a portable battery operated speaker that sounds really surprisingly good... but I'm the odd sheep here. I listen to alternative & industrial music mostly... mostly... sometimes I tone it down with some folky singer songwriters but for the most part I listen to music that very few people do...

PiecesinMn 07-02-2011 11:55 AM

Hey, I got everyone of these in albums.

Juliebelle 07-02-2011 12:41 PM

I either have country music on the tv or classical on the computer, country seems to keep me going longer, the classical sometimes makes me too comfortable.

SharBear 07-02-2011 12:50 PM

Either NCIS on DVD - working my way through Season 5 right now. OR I put the DirecTV music channel on to the "Familiar Favorites" channel - which is anything from the '60s to today's music.

sueisallaboutquilts 07-02-2011 01:16 PM

I listen to most of what everyone has said but also love the Yankee games. If I'm desperate I'll put any game on lol

I've really gotten into Alternative lately, as well as many styles. I like just about all of it, with the exception of Rap :)
Also love audiobooks and have many on my Ipods.

IrishNY 07-02-2011 01:35 PM

I'm with Susie - the Yankees are always good.

The rest of the time I usually stream NPR through my computer and listen to All Things Considered and Morning Edition for that day and then catch up on Wait! Wait! Don't Tell Me or This American Life for the week.

cny_sewer39 07-02-2011 02:18 PM

I listen to books on cds. I really don't have time to read books so when I listen to them, I get to "read" them while sewing.

Besides music I will also have my computer and put on movies like Sweet Home Alabama or The Proposal ~ movies that I have watched sooooo many times that I don't really have to watch but just like to listen to.

Yooper32 07-02-2011 03:08 PM

It's classic country for me and if I get up to press once in a while, I trip the light fantastic and boogie around the room 'till I drop back into my sewing chair.

bisseau 07-02-2011 03:16 PM

50's, 60's & 70' rock n'roll with a little bit of country.....make up my own cd's so it's very varied.

hcarpanini 07-02-2011 03:35 PM

I listen to Pandora internet radio. I created several stations like Neil Diamond, James Taylor, Brett Dennan, A Fine Frenzy... I love listening to NPR.

blahel 07-02-2011 07:55 PM

at the moment favourites are Michael Buble, hot chocolate, smokie, Queen, Skyhooks also love 60s, 70s, 80s.I also enjoy modern artists like Pink but I enjoy different kinds of music depending on my mood so usually just have my ipod shuffling through different songs. Yay for ipod!

Boscobd 07-02-2011 09:26 PM

Rod Stewart (his old albums as well as his new releases), Vivaldi ("The Four Seasons"), Jimmy Buffet, Kansas, The Knack, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Adele. Guess it's whatever I'm in the mood for!!

Launie 07-02-2011 09:41 PM

I have my iPod and some small speakers. I turn on Pandora and love the Rat Pack, Melody Gardot, and anything 80'S!

vivoaks 07-03-2011 02:44 AM

I stick a CD in the old CD/cassette player - it could be country, Christian, or like lately - music from the movie "Gettysburg". Sometimes I leave the same CD in for weeks at a time...

Heather Hayllar 07-03-2011 02:54 AM

Country and Western music!!

Mkotch 07-03-2011 03:05 AM

I'm an old folkie from way back, so listen to Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Bob Dylan and more on my iPod.

gypsyquilter 07-03-2011 03:09 AM

pretty much everything from rock to country to celtic music to big band. anything but hip hop. 4000+plus songs on my ipod, so I can go days and days and days :-)

i love pandora, great way to find new artists and new songs that may not necessarily be on the radio either.

mimiknoxtaylor 07-03-2011 03:24 AM

My favorites are 40s & 50s oldies. Dean Martin is my favorite. Good memories of being with my dad

quilt3311 07-03-2011 03:30 AM

Classical music and audio books. Depends on what I am working on. If its something that is repeated stitching then audio book. If I have to really concentrate to keep pieces in order then classical music--Mozart is a favorite for this type sewing.
Sometimes to the radio if there is something local going on.

chatonne40 07-03-2011 03:49 AM

I have the Ipod on scramble in the folder 70's-80's

PamB8s 07-03-2011 03:53 AM

I listen to my tv. CMT, and Sirus radio christian music. Usually praise and worship.

lizzy 07-03-2011 03:53 AM

I listen to Christian contemporary music, Bianca Ryan, Wynona Ryder, some classical music (no singing); anything but hard rock and rap.

Ditto! :)

Mickie612 07-03-2011 03:56 AM

I listen to old country, classics, show music and sometimes tv. There is nothing like quilting to Hank Williams, Sr.

misscarol 07-03-2011 03:57 AM

I listen to country music. I also love to put on Christmas music no matter what time of year.
My all time favorite is to listen to Cleveland Indians baseball games :)

19angel52 07-03-2011 04:07 AM

Oh heck yes, I listen to music...Dido, Sarah McLaughlin, and Christian contemporary music.... Fairly loud too.....

Suzi 07-03-2011 04:13 AM

I park Pandora on my computer and either select classical or 50's/60's. The classical soothes me and the Golden Oldies put me back in time and I find myself smiling the whole time I'm sewing.

Could be anything from Pavarotti to ZZ Top, from George Jones to Frank Sinatra, from Glenn Miller to The Beatles. I like almost all kinds of music. In my younger days I spent almost 20 years as the lead singer and bass player in a country band. Variety is the spice of life :-)

darlene1951 07-03-2011 04:48 AM

I love to listen to music while I'm sewing, especially when I have the entire house to myself. I have an entire seclection on my computer called "mood music" It's easy listening, Yanni, Tim Janis and many more.

me too. I like to listen to spy thrillers and murder mysteries. But if I'm calculating, sometimes I turn off the CD player for a few minutes, to avoid mistakes (learned by experience  )

Ahh what a great idea! I'll be heading to the library this week!

I have this problem too...I get caught up into it... if I am doing something that requires a lot of thought, Enya, or Loreena McKennit or Roxy Music is nice... If I don't have to think so much Black 47, Pink Floyd or Def Leppard work well...

And of course, all would be liberally sprinkled with Billy Joel, Elton John and Bruce!
