Really great flag! My DH always says "are you knitting again" just to get me going, and it works, every time! Aren't they priceless!

I don't know if I would say priceless. On a bad day, I might be tempted by a few yards of quilt goods! Definitely a Handy Quilter or any Long Arm! (Just kidding dear!) LOL

[quote=ckcowl] i have a friend who regularly tells me---wouldn't it be easier to just go to Penneys?
non-quilters are all alike regardless of gender :

Yep I have a friend that always ask why I bother...I don't bother answering her..or if I am in ONE of my moods I ask her "why do u bother gambling every chance you get, at least I have something to show for my money" Gotta have a hit home come back.
I agree I don't usually share my hobbies to my other half either unless he asks what I am doing and even then I don't expect much of a reaction. That's what girlfriends are for-he he

very nicely done -

I never ask hubs to look at my sewing; I have a hard time keeping him out of my sewing room over my shoulder.
I was getting ready for bed 2 nites ago and he handed me a pair of (wet) jeans (he went shrimping and came home wet) and said "Can you sort of fix these?",
"what did you do here!" hes torn open the end of the waistband at the buttonhole completely destroyed the fabric!
"well, I went to pull the net in and about lost my britches and your brother had to look at my crack all the boatride back."
"these are wet and dirty, I cant fix them like that!"
"well, just throw em in the dryer first, I want to wear them tomorrow. theyre comfortable"
"they must be now - they were so tight you torn the buttonhole open! besides, theyre dirty I dont put dirty clothes in the dryer, and how am I supposed to fix these, theres nothing to sew to! I cannot believe the button is still there and not broken off, or ripped off"
You can fix them, you sew all the time, you take little bits and sew them up all the time!"
"thats quilting, not magic,"
"well, you could do it if you wanted, but thats all right, I'll do it myself ", he huffed off to bed.
so, I washed and dried the pants, went up and found a piece of denim the size of a double postage stamp, hand sewed it onto the button hole end of the waistband and moved the button over as far as I could - nearly 1/2", all with handquilting thread. This all took about 2 hrs and he was sleeping when I got to bed. The next AM he said, "oh, see I knew you could just whip this up, and you even made them more comfortable somehow!"
tsk tsk - I really don't think he's just playing dumb about this sometimes! sharet

I told my husband that asking a quilter to repair your ripped up jeans is like asking Picasso to paint your garage! I do give in once in a while, but not in the middle of the night.

Your quilt is lovely. I'm going to make one myself.

ahhh - not many men are that appreciative of the work and effort that goes into quilting....Mine finally does but it took years....we just celebrated our 40th in July. So...give it time. Who knows - might end up quilting himself. It COULD happen. Happened to DH's cousin...she has been quilting for years and her DH just couldn't see it. After 20 years, he decided to quietly try quilting and he loves it!
