Ok everyone else covered the quilting q's, so I will handle the Cali part. Where in Ca do they live? That does make a difference. Some places here are actually cold in the winter!

That is an adorable quilt and so girly. I think a border would be really nice to frame out the cute quilt. Possibly a solid or small print fabric in pink of course. Anxious to see the finished project.

And get snow so deep you could lose an elephant in the drifts.

I think a light weight batting would add a bit of body and a nice feel to the quilt...minkie on back would be nice too...quilting shows up nicely on that, even without batting.

Here's one I quilted earlier this year. I drew a gentle, curvy line on the diagonal and just echo quilted with my walking foot.[ATTACH=CONFIG]594400[/ATTACH]
