Should i make it bigger with plain flannel boarders. It is for my G granddaughter and she will be 4 in April.
Also should I put batting in the Quilt or just back with flannel. They live in Calif. The blocks are 44 x44 now. One more question, How do most of you quilt string quilts? Thanks for your help. I could not get it straight on the design wall cause it kept falling down. I could have pinned it. DAh

I would do a border, because it sort of "frames" the quilt. Some simple stitch in the ditch to anchor would be a good way to quilt it... IMHO

Beautiful job!

I would put a border on to frame those pretty blocks. I believe I would just use flannel for the backing and not use a batting. Little 4 year olds love to tote blankets around and play dolls and all sorts of things. This will be a well loved quilt.

That is so darling! I agree that a border would be nice. With or without batting is fine. She's going to love it!

Oh this is so sweet and feminine. I am making a heart quilt the same size for a great granddaughter due in a month. Love those littles. ;-)

That's so cute. Personally I prefer rectangular quilts. 44 seems plenty wide for a 4 year old, but you could add another row or two onto the bottom to give her more leg room as she grows. I'd probably add a solid pink 3" border , scrappy binding, and quilt a big heart in each block , plus stitch 1/4 inch away from each seam to make a frame per block. That way she gets a fun heart quilt on the back to look at.

I usually quilt an all over with hearts for girls (maybe a butterfly, dragonfly or lady bug added in ) and loop-de-loops for boys. They are usually so busy that the quilting is kind of lost, so I don't do anything fancy. I am a border girl and sometimes I add batting and sometimes not. I am a rebel that way!

Thanks for all the ideas. You all are great! I will show you when I am done.

I would put a narrow pink border and a wider colorful border on. It's cute.

As for quilting, you can do circles, or swirls, or flowers.....lots of options.
