I had to start using the foot control with my left though as I tend to go at the same time and the right leg was doing double duty. It frees your hand to line up stuff and all of that, rather than have to reach back, ( I know some now have a putton to up and down the presser foot, the new quilting brother does, I find it really slow though, would drive me nuts)

I have only ever used the slow down button a few times. I really should learn to use the knee thingy.
It hasn't done this since I took apart the foot pedal the other day. I may have Exorcized the demon all by myself (with suggestions from yall) |
My Pfaff did that for years. I would get the machine serviced and the foot control cleaned but sooner or later it would sew on its own (very laboured). I bought a new foot control but it did the same thing. Technician said it was one of the electronic components (this machine was top of the line in 1975) and at $50/hour might be rather expensive to find. I ended up buying a very nice Janome - but I still would take my old Pfaff back in a minute if I could get it fixed.

The machine is possessed and you have to turn the plug around in the socket... hmmmm... this reminds me of something.... The EXORCIST!

My computerized machine uses air coming from the foot pedal. I dropped a rotary cutter on it and put a nick in the air line. It drove me nuts for weeks before I figured out the problem.

My Janome 9000 is possesed too --It is only possed at home -- when I take it to the shop it acts normal. It dosn't stop sewing when I take my foot off the control. think it might be in the foot control? Sandie in IN

I have a janome 9000 and it was sewing on its own-was really ticking me off because i was appliqueing and it wouldnt stop and i would have to rip out the stitches. took it to my dealer and he told me i needed a new motor. like a dummy i didnt check to see if janome ever had issues with the motor soo $187.00 later i have a new motor and it was still doing it!.not all the time-just when i had to get something done NOW! long story short, i borrowed my friends foot pedal and my machine workrd fine-put mine in-sewing on its own. my DH was in the room at the time and took apart the pedal and cleaned the dust and cat hair out of it and it hasnt given me a problem since. the thing is- i asked my repairman if it could be the footpedal the 1st time i took it in. he said its not the pedal and i got the new motor. the lst time i took it in he said he called Janome and they said it was some sensor under the feed dogs. anyway it would be very expensive to get to it. I have since learned that he has ordered parts the machine didn't need and charged people for them. I now have a new repair guy and a new dealer. anyone need a motor for a janome 9000? LOL

He should be reported to Janome. Also, I think you should go back and tell him what your husband found, and ask him to take the new motor back. If he refulses, tell him you're going to report him to Janome.

My Janome 9000 also liked to sew anything from a few stitched to several inches. When it was returned, the dealer said all my machine needed was a good cleaning. He also cleaned the foot control. Brought it home and the extra stitching continued. -- I never was impressed with this service person which was confirmed by his knowledge or lack thereof. Urgh!!! Good service is so important.
I had purchased this machine from eBay store. I called and talked to them and was told it probably was the mother board and if I could, to unload it. I did. I know have a new "used" toy - a 450 Bernina with stitch regulator. Those of you who have a knee lift, GET WITH IT. They are wonderful. Suz |
