We also used the squirt gun. I think males are harder to train ( just like the human male).

Mine just look at me and laugh when I try stuff like that. |

My kitty Sandy doesn't really lay on my fabric while I'm working on it. I've only found her on the ironing board a couple of times but if the fabric is there sitting around then so is she.

I have 2 cats. Wadsworth - because he is such a long fellow and Gizmo. She's a medium/long fluffy female. We trained both with the squirt bottle. One day, Gizmo was on the table and DH picked up the water bottle expecting her to run. She didn't. Just staired at him. So he went to squirt her and got it straight in his own face. With that Gizmo jumped down, while he laughed his head off.

My cats are very dipomatic, they allow me to believe that I have them well trained. Yesterday I was ironing an expecially long piece of fabric, I started to move it so I could iron another section. Whoops, caught on something, nope cat laying on the fabric, cover blown. Sometimes they forget to keep their disguise in place.

My Iris seems to think I'm in the mood to play when I sit down at my sewing table. She's so cute I can't get angry. I did come across something that works but you have to do it periodically. I guess they forget? Or maybe they think you really aren't serious! Anyway, sneak up on them when they are where they aren't supposed to be & make a sudden loud noise. I use a pot lid & a metal spoon. Iris hates it but she's stays off the table temporarily.
