great idea , going to try this one, thank you
|
I just saw on a quilt show a hint to put Press & Seal on the back of rulers to keep from slipping. worth a try.
|
No matter how I hold the ruler, and I have tried all the suggestions I still get slippage especially toward the end. This is the greatest idea. Thank you so much.

Wonderful idea, I will have to try this. I use clamps to clamp my quilt sandwich to my glass topped table so I can pin it.
Thanks for the idea. |
I use clear little rubber slip proof things that can be bought at the hardware stores. I bought mine in the notions section of a variety type store we have in town, also in their hardware section.
I put them all over the bottom of my ruler so they don't slip. Works great. There's also little green fuzzy round things that help also. They are used to put on the bottom of lamps, etc. to prevent slipping. |
I use them all the time! Aren't they great!
I had to start using them in this past year when I injured 2 disks in my neck because I didn't have the strength to hold the ruler like I once did. But I'm not the type to let much stop me when I want to do something, so I just grabbed a few out of my tool box (I'm the maintenance woman around here too) and kept on cutting. LOL Oh they are also great to help hold up a quilt for taking pictures too. I'm sure if you think about it, you can find even more uses for these most handy items. While you're at it, look in there (tool box) and you'll find a few more very handy items. |
I like your idea. I have found that the stuff they put on skate boards is very good too.You buy it from the skate board shop - it is like sandpaper.
|
I use a sandpaper that has a sticky side, but I like the clamp idea,Thanks!!
|
I have been using that rubbery stuff you get for shelves but you can bet I am going to get me a clamp too. Thanks for the great idea. Betty

I am envious of you quilters that can get your supplies as Harbor Freight..I get stuff there from time to time, but no rotary cutters or blades...likely could get clamps there, but I get those at Menards, usually for free.
