I am making this quilt for my mom for a lady she is working with who is have a baby. I am not sure if I like the yellow, please tell me what you think. I am having a hard time figuring out what fabric to use in that spot this was my first option, not sure what else I would use as of yet. Thanks for the input!
Personally, I'm not fond of the yellow in it. Since you are using a dark purple and the light lavender, how about a pale pink in that spot? Or maybe even white? Otherwise, I'd use the same plaid that's already in it.
I'd stick with the purple floral print in the yellow areas. But I'm a Purple Fiend.
I like the yellow where you have it. It picks up the yellow in the pink print.
There is also a light yellow in the pink plaid, I am going back and forth on this, thanks for all the comments so far I will await more.. hehe.
I see it with your yellow fabric as the border also. That will really make the yellow in the quilt 'pop'. I like it and babies like different bright colors in a blanket or quilt. The baby will love it!
I like the yellow. It brings out the subtle yellows in the prints and makes the quilt come to life.
I would vote for some shade of purple/lavendar.
I think this is going to be a pretty quilt. The yellow brings out the yellow in the green. One suggestion is another green? or a different shade of pink or purple. Maybe? darker? :-D
The problem I have too is that our Joanns is moving to a bigger store so right now they are very limited on fabric. Do you think one of the other fabrics I used would look good in place of the yellow?
i like it just as is very very nice

I like the thought of the yellow, although I think I might have used a softer yellow. To me, it's just a little too bright.

Whatever you choose will be lovely and very appreciated!! |
I like the yellow also. yellow and purple are complementary colors and look great together. I would also use the same yellow for a thinner border before the green.
I love that green background that the blocks are laying on!
Yellow is a good idea, but I agree that it is too brightn and it being a solid color. All the other fabrics are some kind of print and I think that one should too. I think a yellow print of some sort in that spot.
Really like the fabrics used in this (except the yellow of course lol) Carol B |
Pretty Pretty. I think I agree with JudyG and maybe try a softer yellow or maybe white with a little yellow print in it. Still, all and all it is pretty just like it is. I'm looking forward to see what you do. :)

I like the yellow.

I would use the pink plaid and not add another color.
I like the yellow, but a lighter shade would look better since there's yellow in the block next to it!
do u know if it's a boy or girl?????

Please don't use the yellow! If you look at how beautiful the quilt is with purple, lavender, even y
Oops sorry didn't finish, what I'm trying to say is with the yellow you picked it stands out and that becomes your focus, try a lighter yellow if you want to use yellow, good luck I'm sure it will be great
I like the yellow....it is soft and pretty.
I'm for the yellow also.
I like the green that you have the blocks laying on... I would use that :D:D:D
I think that a nice light shade of green would be lovely. Something lighter than the green that is in the pink fabric.
I agree with Cheryl, yellow and purple are comlpementary colours,(opposite each other on the colour wheel)they vibrate off each other and add vigor to the composition. If you want a lively quilt then keep in the yellow.

I would try green, but not necessarily the shade in the background.
I don't much care for the yellow. If you have other colors, audition different ones & you'll probably find one you like that will go with it & make you happy. Is it laying on a green sheet or something? That may be throwing the yellow off in the blocks. Can you put the blocks on a black or white background to see if that helps to determine what goes better. I'm all for changing things up until I get what makes me happy. Be sure to let us know what you decide.

While it doesn't "GO" all matchy-matchy, I think that's why I like it. The pop of yellow is unexpected AND it compliments the flowers. |
I like the yellow also.

I'm not crazy about the yellow. I like the idea of a light pink instead.
Well thanks for everyones input, I am keeping the yellow. My mom liked the yellow and she said to keep it, which is easier for me I wont have to redo it! LOL. Thanks again!
I never use yellow for baby quilts. I f the baby is the least bit jaundiced, the yellow just makes them look worse. And that just worries the new mom!
I like the yellow and maybe do the border in yellow also. As that one fabric has little yellow flowers in it. Happy Quilting!
