I think it perfect the way you have it.

      |
I would swap the light and dark purples around
I love it just as it is. Great block and I love your fabric choices.
Wow it is beautiful...
I too think it is perfect the way it is. I think the bright green changed to the background would be way to much. It is gorgeous just the way it is.

I knew I have seen this pattern before; Go to

I am wanting to switch the light and dark purples also.
I would leave it as it is. It is fantastic
I agree with Donna. Keep it as is with a bright green border!
Yes the bright green would look great.
I would switch the purples. Beautiful block!

I would switch the purples. Beautiful block!
I love it. Absolutetly Fabulous!!!!!

If you have enough fabric, play around with it and try switching the background fab to the bright green and put the background fabric around the white block and see what that does. At least lay the purples and fairy pieces on a piece of the bright green to save from cutting it and see what you think then.
I love this block and the way it is, but who knows what a color change can always do for one. What is the name of this block if I might ask? Is this from a special pattern? That is going to be a BEAUTIFUL quilt when it is finished whatever color you go with. |
Do you think the harshness of the white might be part of what is off?
I think it is beautiful just like it is.
I'd leave it.
i didn't like it when i first saw it, but when i saw the entire thing, i loved it. very subtle. i love the way it flows. i think that if you put in too much bright green it will look garish and ruin the dreamy appearance. what will you do in the center?
I like it as is- really a beautiful block. If you really think you need to change something, try the bright green in the corner of the block opposite of the bright green and see how that looks. Hope you understand this.
I like the block as you have it. I like that the colors blend.

Oh, wow, after reading all the postings, I hate to make my contribution....when I seen the last photo all I see is the green in the center (and that might be because of the "white" center) but that being said, I would change the green in the center and leave the rest of it alone. Just MHO. And I will always be a beginner.
I like it the way it is. Have you considered putting a dark green in the center. These are flowers, and the flower would put the "stem" area in shadow, so whatever goes in there would probably need to be darker. BTW - not sure if it was intentional or not, but where the outside corner triangles meet in the inside of the block looks like it was fussy cut. Upon further closer look at the four pieces of the block - ALL of the green triangles appear to have been fussy cut. Wow! Anxious to see the whole quilt. Great fabrics and great colors.

The dark purple is drowning out the fairy...

Oh, I think this is lovely as it is!! I would not change the bluegreen at all, but maybe ScubaK has a point.
Once you put the blocks together it looked fine. The problem ( if this is indeed a problem ), the outside purple petal and the green background fabric have almost the same fabric colour value. It really is pretty.
I agree with leaving it as it is. Maybe use the bright green as binding or an outer border. It is beautiful now and I'm sure it will be however you chose to finish it. :)

Beautiful! I think it is great as it is.

Sorry it has taken so long to respond. But the block is by Carol Doak it is a one of her member celebration blocks. Thank you all for your input. I am still trying to figure out what I am going to do. I think that I am going to stay with it the way it is right now but who know when I get back to it after this weekend. (putting it to the side while I work on quilting another quilt for my dd getting ready to enter it in an online quilt contest)
I think your blocks are perfect in color and in setting. You have blue in the fairy, so blue in the green background works. There's also blue in the lighter purple batik. For the center I would use the dark purple; it balances well with the brighter green strip and brings the whole block together.

Looks great the way it is!
