I think it perfect the way you have it.
The blocks are so beautiful.

juneayerza 03-16-2011 05:06 PM

sewgarden 03-16-2011 05:32 PM

I would swap the light and dark purples around

quilter in the making 03-16-2011 05:45 PM

I love it just as it is. Great block and I love your fabric choices.

stitchntimesewing 03-16-2011 05:51 PM

Wow it is beautiful...

QuickStitch 03-16-2011 05:55 PM

I too think it is perfect the way it is. I think the bright green changed to the background would be way to much. It is gorgeous just the way it is.

juneayerza 03-16-2011 06:02 PM

I knew I have seen this pattern before; Go to

Beautiful job. Seeing it together in the 2nd pic the bright green to me takes away from the angels. Maybe if you did the change you said it would tie it more together.

wildyard 03-16-2011 06:10 PM

I am wanting to switch the light and dark purples also.

GloBug 03-16-2011 06:25 PM

I would leave it as it is. It is fantastic

BfloDd 03-16-2011 06:30 PM

I agree with Donna. Keep it as is with a bright green border!

Annz 03-16-2011 06:39 PM

Yes the bright green would look great.

Gelswood 03-16-2011 07:14 PM

I would switch the purples. Beautiful block!

Gelswood 03-16-2011 07:14 PM

I would switch the purples. Beautiful block!

cny_sewer39 03-16-2011 07:18 PM

I love it. Absolutetly Fabulous!!!!!

Gerbie 03-16-2011 07:48 PM

If you have enough fabric, play around with it and try switching the background fab to the bright green and put the background fabric around the white block and see what that does. At least lay the purples and fairy pieces on a piece of the bright green to save from cutting it and see what you think then.
I love this block and the way it is, but who knows what a color change can always do for one. What is the name of this block if I might ask? Is this from a special pattern?

That is going to be a BEAUTIFUL quilt when it is finished whatever color you go with.

wildyard 03-16-2011 07:58 PM

Do you think the harshness of the white might be part of what is off?

batik queen 03-16-2011 08:06 PM

I think it is beautiful just like it is.

k9dancer 03-16-2011 08:10 PM

I'd leave it.

butterflywing 03-16-2011 08:17 PM

i didn't like it when i first saw it, but when i saw the entire thing, i loved it. very subtle. i love the way it flows. i think that if you put in too much bright green it will look garish and ruin the dreamy appearance. what will you do in the center?

bjdemir 03-16-2011 08:20 PM

I like it as is- really a beautiful block. If you really think you need to change something, try the bright green in the corner of the block opposite of the bright green and see how that looks. Hope you understand this.

Ziva 03-16-2011 08:58 PM

I like the block as you have it. I like that the colors blend.

I like it the way it is.

newbiequilter 03-16-2011 09:54 PM

Oh, wow, after reading all the postings, I hate to make my contribution....when I seen the last photo all I see is the green in the center (and that might be because of the "white" center) but that being said, I would change the green in the center and leave the rest of it alone. Just MHO. And I will always be a beginner.

Janquiltz 03-16-2011 09:55 PM

I like it the way it is. Have you considered putting a dark green in the center. These are flowers, and the flower would put the "stem" area in shadow, so whatever goes in there would probably need to be darker. BTW - not sure if it was intentional or not, but where the outside corner triangles meet in the inside of the block looks like it was fussy cut. Upon further closer look at the four pieces of the block - ALL of the green triangles appear to have been fussy cut. Wow! Anxious to see the whole quilt. Great fabrics and great colors.

I would leave it as is. It is beautiful!

ScubaK 03-16-2011 10:44 PM

The dark purple is drowning out the fairy...

doowopddbop 03-16-2011 10:45 PM

Oh, I think this is lovely as it is!! I would not change the bluegreen at all, but maybe ScubaK has a point.

My time 03-16-2011 11:10 PM

Once you put the blocks together it looked fine. The problem ( if this is indeed a problem ), the outside purple petal and the green background fabric have almost the same fabric colour value. It really is pretty.

Tropical 03-16-2011 11:12 PM

I agree with leaving it as it is. Maybe use the bright green as binding or an outer border. It is beautiful now and I'm sure it will be however you chose to finish it. :)

:P I agree w/Neece I think that the problem is that the white seems to take over. When I covered the white with my hand the whole block looked different. I also like the suggestion of putting a light purple in the middle. It is a beautiful block. Is it pp? BrendaK.

janiesews 03-17-2011 03:43 AM

Beautiful! I think it is great as it is.

sahm4605 03-17-2011 05:18 AM

Sorry it has taken so long to respond. But the block is by Carol Doak it is a one of her member celebration blocks. Thank you all for your input. I am still trying to figure out what I am going to do. I think that I am going to stay with it the way it is right now but who know when I get back to it after this weekend. (putting it to the side while I work on quilting another quilt for my dd getting ready to enter it in an online quilt contest)

joyce888 03-17-2011 05:51 AM

I think your blocks are perfect in color and in setting. You have blue in the fairy, so blue in the green background works. There's also blue in the lighter purple batik. For the center I would use the dark purple; it balances well with the brighter green strip and brings the whole block together.

cdufur 03-17-2011 05:59 AM

Looks great the way it is!
