okay, I am in a quandry. this block is just not looking exactly right to me. I just can't figure it out. can anyone else help get me to the right "look". I am thinking of changing the blueish outer fabric to the "bright" green strip at the bottom. I think that is what the problem is here. what do you guys think?

Call me silly, I like it the way it is! But, I haven't made too many blocks. :? The colors are beautiful!

here is a semi completed block.
this is generally what the block would look like when finished. ignore the white center. I haven't put the fabric there yet. not sure what i am going to be putting there. |
I like the way it looks myself, but if you were going to change it, I would go with the bright green.
It is gorgeous!!!!!
Agree with the bright green. The current background tends to blend with the purples.

It is very beautiful. My eyes want to switch the light purple with the dark purple. It appears to be an amazing pattern. All your work is beautiful.
I love it as isd!
Actually I think it is beautiful the way it is.
I wouldn't change a thing - I love it. What a wonderful quilt for a young lady of any age and beautiful!

I think its pretty as is, and if you put borders a bright green border, I think would even bring it out more, but being a newby that just what I think...LOL
It's gorgeous! I would definitely leave the greens as they are. Having a more toned green (i.e. it contains a bit more grey) in the background than in the foreground means that it adds depth to the quilt, giving something of a 3D effect (in a good way). The foreground green is brought forward, focusing attention on whatever you are going to have in the white square-on-point in the middle. The background green certainly doesn't blend in with the purples at all, they're perfectly well distinguished.
I am absolutely salivating over those batiks, especially the elegant curves of the background green one. |
Once I saw it together I vote for leaving it. If I were going to change it , it would be to something with a little more blue in it. To me it looks like your fairy is sitting in the center of a flower.
I think that it is perfect the way it is. It is a beautiful block.
To me the two greens are so close in color that they tend to blend. Not enough contrast. I'd either change the center green or change the outer green if they were my blocks.
I think it's beautiful as is.
I would try a golden color like her hair in place of the bright green stripe on there.

I'm in agreement with the majority - it's very nice as it is.

It may depend on what you put in the center and if you want the "fairies/angels" to be the focus. I think the bright green pulls you eye away from the faries/angels so I would go with lighter green Also I would switch lighter purple with darker one.
I like it!!
i love it!
Personally I would change the very light triangle. ( center when put together) to something with a little more color in it. Otherwise I really like it. The purples go beautifully together and with the princess(?)
Love it 'as is'! IMHO, I would put a complimentary packed floral in the centers.
that is just beautiful don't change it
beautiful, I love it the way it is
I like it the way it is. Beautiful.
I don't think changing the bright green to the light purple would change the contrast much. I love it just the way it is.
This is just awsome. What is the name of the block?
You have done an amazing job. I would put a light purple square in the middle instead of the white. The center square is fighting for attention  :XD:
I think it is just right as it is.
the white actually is paper and not fabric. I have not found the right fabric for there yet. have three different ones that I am looking at right now. It just depends on what I end up doing with the greens.
Very pretty. What's the name of this block?
Your block is great as it is! The background helps to accentuate the lady in the center. If you did a bright green background, it would compete with the lady. JMHO~
i do not understand what isn't looking right. i think it is beautiful. post a pic when you decide what the center will be. i like it alot.
Loveit. Leave it alone.
Quandaries such as this would have me in a Photoshop type program, or multiple photo copies/color prints, to assemble more blocks, to see what the resulting pattern would be.
Isn't this what makes designing so much fun? After deciding on a block, or block set, comes sashing or not. Personally, the colors, as they are, are striking. It may be fun to make a stack & whack out of the focus fabric for the center. I too will be looking for a finale on this. |
