my coice is the dark blue

I like the dark blue, but agree the pattern on the dark blue seems too busy. I guess it also depends on the intended recipient/location. Nice work!
|
I like the 2nd one in bright blue, but it looks like I'm in the minority here. They are all pretty, guess I just like bright stuff.

wow!! I would not have thought of putting a dresden plate on a color background!! Yikes!! how stodgy am I !!!! I have to agree the first one is very wow, and the other 2 are ok but I would go with that dk blue!! Yes, grandma is smiling!!!!
|
Also now that you have opened my poor old eyes to such possibilities I want to see your DP on red!!!!!
|
Uhhhhhhh ... Linda .... uhhhhhh ... my brain doesn't DO THAT![/quote]
LOL, I know you said that before, that's why I did it for you. Smilesssssssssss and huggggs. The other thing is to just play with it till you see a pattern you like. |
I like the dark blue one too, it has no descernible pattern to distract from the DPs. BTW, did you try it against a plain white background? Just for grins?

Definately like the dark blue background. Makes the dresdan plate really stand out.
|
I like the lite blue background. It blends well. the first and third seem to be fighting for attention. Just my opinion. What would grandma say?
|
Have you tried a pale yellow a pale green or orchid? Perhaps one of these colors might work. Why not get a pad of all colors of construction paper the large sheets and put the prepared block on different colors to see what you might like. I realize that construction paper is not fabric, but you are checking out color. This might give you an idea of what color you might want to go with. What was your grandmother's favorite color, you might try that color and see how it does.

I sent you a private message. Kacy

I like the first background. It really makes the plate stand out.
|
I vote for the first one.

The dark blue background makes the pattern stand out and not get lost as the other backgrounds do. Can't wait to see your completed quilt.

THE 1ST ONE REALLY STANDS OUT.

I like the first one. It really makes the plates stand out :-D
|
I vote for the 1st one also, makes the plate really stand out!

I think it depends on what look you are going for. If the "plate" is going to bring those colors into the room you are using it in and not just to show off the "plate, then I think #2 is best. If you want to show the "plate" off, then I like #3. My suggestion would be to keep your audition staged just the way you have it, maybe keeping them in different rooms of the house so they don't complete loudly with one another. Don't concentrate on them, just allow them to be where you'll see them now and again. I'll bet one will start to feel more right than the others. When it does, that's your choice. And your grandmother may have been helping in that process still.
