It showcases your plate fabrics much better!

What will your plate 'center' be?

Hi Karen, I like the center to match the background but someone mentioned navy blue background and yellow centers, I really like that idea!

Gosh Polly, made me cry  ... her favourite colour was Lavendar ... dunno if that would go? Hadn't thought of that, good idea! Hmmmmm .... Yes, I never saw a moment when she wasn't looking at me that she didn't smile. She might've been cross at someone for something, but not ever me, that's why I loved her so and we were 2 peas-in-a-pod, anyone will tell you that. Talkers to the 9's, witty (she was far more witty that I am, I'm just not shy lol!) and she could cook! Luckily, I inherited her good traits  Anyways ... I'll try the Lavendar and see what happens! WOW! thank you *HUGS*

Her work is so fine, I don't think I'll ever get there. But, they are a treasure.

Aw, how fortunate you are! Please share pics when you're done.

Thank you Judie! I was just in Joplin, next time I'll say hey when I'm up that way!

Thank you so much Katie Ann! Like I was telling someone earlier, I am so focused on getting the background and sashing issues resolved that I never thought to ask how the plates look!

Crick, you don't think the flowers are too busy and I should go w/a tone-on-tone?

Thank you so very much for that Nanjun, I didn't even think to ask how the plates themselves looked!

I love the first one!!

RobinAnn 06-10-2010 02:54 PM

The dark blue is not really traditional, but I really love it. When I do things that remind me of those that passed on, I always feel a mixture of sad and nostalgia. Enjoy the feelings!

topazgypsy 06-10-2010 02:59 PM

The dark blue..

Jacque 06-10-2010 03:42 PM

I really like the light blue. It makes the Dresden pop

wildyard 06-10-2010 03:57 PM

I guess I am different than the others, lol, OK, I KNOW I am different... but I love all of them. Why can't you use all the different colors for backgrounds? And perhaps add an offwhite/beige tone on tone too. Then you could alternate them across the rows. Each different background makes the Dresden look so different, I think it would look lovely with all 4 colors for background squares, and each one would show off your plates in a different way. I would go dark blue, dark green, light blue, off white, dark blue.
next row, dark green, light blue, offwhite, dark blue, dark green,
next row,.. so on.. or if you are only putting 4 across, DB, DG, LB, OW; NEXT ROW: DG, LB, OW, DB; NEXT: LB, OW, DB, DG; NEXT: OW, DB, DG, LB, ETC.

kacy 49 06-10-2010 04:00 PM

I like the the 1st one also. It just seems to set off the dresden plate. I am from Texoma land also, Alberta Creek area.

Judith 06-10-2010 04:04 PM

My first choice is the dark blue and second is the green. Great job that you are doing!

Mundy Woodbeck 06-10-2010 04:09 PM

Dk blue beatiful job

MonkeeGirl 06-10-2010 05:19 PM

I really like the way the green background brings out the gold. IMO the blue print sorta washes out the other prints in the plate.

The plate is beautiful. Your grandmother is smiling down at you for the great job that you did. She is very proud of you, she taught you well. HUGS!

I like the first one - dark blue background - it really makes the colors pop out on the plate. Very nice!

GailG 06-10-2010 05:38 PM

The dark blue, but...................there's something about the dark green that I like.

Oklahoma Suzie 06-10-2010 05:45 PM

the first one.

It seems to me that the last one displays the piecing better, it doesn't compete with the background for attention.

Hey Kacy! Thank you! Is Alberta Creek near Kingston? If so, we should meet up sometime! There are a few of us in this area, it would be fun!

Thank you for that, Judith! I wonder if after I get the plates on their backgrounds I'll be unhappy w/my plates? I HOPE NOT!

Yes, me too. I think what drew me to the green was it's delicate tone-one-tone print, reminded me of something Victorian, which I love! But, it doesn't seem to make these plates POP! I may save it for something I do in greens/purple.

Thanks, Joyce! I'm looking for one next week, hopefully, it will be fun *fingers crossed*

Woodster 06-10-2010 06:07 PM

I like the style of fabric #2, with the color of fabric #1. I think #1 fabric as is stands is a tad busy.

hilda Vest 06-10-2010 06:21 PM

I prefer the second and third ones. The design in the first one is a little distracting. The blue background has a cool feel to it. The green is good ,too.
Your grandmother would be proud that you are continuing to explore the craft that she introduced you to.

Thank you, Hilda, I really appreciate the support.

I like the first one...more contrast makes it stand out.
