If I was going to spend money for a featherweight it would definately not be this machine.

I dont want to be negative or rain on anyones parade! If you love the new Featherweight, I think you should get it. I have an old one and love to use it occasionally for piecing, but end up missing so many features my other maching has such as the needle down. That being said, I guess I can see the appeal of the new ones. It's like having the best of both worlds. But when I saw what they look like, it just seemed sort of....wrong.

Sorry....but that's just ugly!! Not to mention the price!! What are they thinking? I'll stick to my old ones thank you!! Thanks for showing us.

This little machine is a workhorse and amazingly the only thing plastic on it is the case. Everything else is metal.

That's good to know! I would have assumed it's plastic inside, too. Hmmmm... and it wouldn't stink like the old FWs.

wow...for all that plastic...sigh...
would rather have a 301 long bed I think!

Did you notice how narrow the throat is on this machine! And I complain about my Brother with a 5" throat. Compared to this Singer's I could land planes on mine. LOL

I guess I'm in the minority here. I like the way it looks. Kind of "modern-retro". I would consider buying it with a few qualifiers. Must be metal (body and gears), must be made in USA, and I would have to take a test drive. Singer hasn't had a good track record lately so I would definitely be looking for the "qualifiers". Just because their quality hasn't been good for a while, doesn't mean that they haven't been listening to the negative feedback and trying to make changes. If you got one and it didn't perform, it could always go back.

I like the decals being used again. The color makes me think my blueberry jam got mixed up with something it shouldn't have.
This machine does not appeal to me even if I had the bucks to throw down for it.

WHAT were they thinking ? IMHO it's kind of ugly, no matter what price point ! Tacky Blue plastic is Retro ? No metal and no throat space ?
Can't improve on the Original FW

A Singer today is NOT a singer of yesteryear no matter how they make it.
