36 years for me

I have been sewing since I was 8 yrs. old... Quilting for 8 1/2 yrs. I am 67 yrs old.. Love to quilt.

My sister took a quilting class & then would show me what she learned. Made my first quilt for my first granddaughter & she is 25 now. My sister did not continue but I was really bit by the bug. So 25 years for me. I constantly do the math for how many more quilts I can make before I die so am going to machine quilting so I can make more to use up my huge stash. Love it so much!

18 months. Still wet behind the ears!

I started 21 yrs.ago. First quilt I made was the radiant star. After making the "star", putting on the backing& binding I washed the quilt....only to learn one thing...I had only made the " top", never relized I had to "quilt" the quilt!!!!! I was so proud thinking I made a quilt,till I opened the dryer and found a BIG ball of batting inside my "so called"finished quilt!" So I opened it up and replaced the batting and then quilted it!!!! Lesson learned!

1 1/2 years, never sewed before. My Mother did all of the sewing. dad's suits, ties, shirts and anything else you can think of but never machine quilted. I started out hand quilting. In the last couple of months I started machine quilting. I've completed one machine quilt and am on my second. Yesterday I discovered I had 2 speeds on my machine and didn't have to move the material as fast as the speed of the machine. I'm finding it a lot easier and I don't get as tired. lol dumb de dumb de. I think beginners should show newbe's how to quilt because they wouldn't say sew as fast as you can when you quilt and would start at the beginning telling you to set the speed on min and how to move your material. I guess older quilters take it for granted that you know this part, bless their pea pick'en hearts. lol

10 years. I have sewn since high school but did not start quilting until I retired. It has become a wonderful hobby for me.
