I think OBWs are just magical! The ones shown here prove that. I have 2 started and can't wait to start putting them together.

Those are some really neat quilts. I take it you have to have enough fabric for 6 repeats for it to work? I think I'll keep this one in the back of my head. I have too many other projects right now to start a new one. Definitely worth the effort though.

Having a working wall really helped me lay out my one block wonder. I don't think I could have figured out what went where otherwise :)
The key to the fabric is not having any blank or dead areas be sure there is action all over

This is one that I made "Labyrinth"pattern, easy to make I love the one block wonder patterns and often enlarge patterns to just one all over block

Love all the pictures on this thread. I have done one and if you are careful when you line up the layers of fabric the rest is very easy.

I am working on a OBW right now. I have it up on my design wall and am working on my arrangement. I have my 3rd attempt up now and am pretty sure I like it. I stare at it and move a few blocks every time I got in there. My machine is in the shop right now so I am using my old machine that I don;t like. I am working on some donation doll quilts until I get my good machine back.
There is a mirror that you can get for auditioning fabrics. I took a class years ago. 2 of us used the same fabric by accident. It was really interesting because they looked totally different when finished because we started in different places in the fabric. They hung side by side in the LQS for a while. You would never have known they were from the same fabric.

Stack n whack and OBW are basically two different looks.....at least I think so.....SnW controls the hex by adding corners and thus giving space between each Swirl whereas OBW is just one hex after another all different...I prefer the look of SnW..one can see the different designs one fabric can make...and I think easier to put together......I have done both.....albeit they were small, but SnW is much easier to work...JMHO

Two quilting buddies and I are doing the One Block Wonder. All three of us have totally different fabrics. Yes, lining up the repeats took awhile, but once done you are ready to go. Having fun twisting and turning the hexagons into blocks (you can also do 8 pieces, but not what I chose to do). Will post pictures of my material and how some of the blocks will look. Interesting project.
