Great choice, will look very sunny, don't forget to post a block when finished. We all want to see it.

You have a good eye. Trust your self more. The butterfly is beautiful and the colors are just right. What a neat way to use your tools.

very nice....It's great to see how others do their quilt blocks as I am also new to quilting... You seem much farther along in your journey as I have not attempted applique yet...LOL

Actually because I am new at quilting I first thought to make a basic rail fence block, than I changed my mind and instead made a basic 9 patch block attached here. However as y'all know by this thread I started I made a different design as shown above. Sorry this sample one isn't ironed. I had it put in a zipply bag with cut fabric to do 25 of these but changed my mind to do the butterfly one instead. I still will use the rest of those fabrics in some fashion and use them in a quilt somehow.

Although I have ideas to create 3 or 4 more designs so far I like this butterfly one and most likely what I'll run with for the Swap.

I prefer applique than I do piecing but I am starting to like pieceing some.

I forgot to mention that the 2D butterfly is from the Tim Holtz die sold for papercrafting.

I wouldn't be surprised if your block is the standout in the whole batch.

As for your piecing, aside from the ironing ;-) , it looks great - all the pieces are aligning perfectly.

Just watch the 1/4" seam line. There is a tendency to wander at the beginning and the ends of the seam line (I can see your stitch holes). If I'm not concentrating, I do it also.

Love, love the butterfly.
