Is it worth it to fix the machine with such a high price? My Pfaff 7510 comes up with "internal error" when I power up and I can not select the different length or wide of the stitches.

Got 2 estimates - they don't even open up your machine to see what's wrong. They say it is the lower main board that has gone bad. Estimate to repair run over $500 board including labor. Is it worth fixing?

Anyone have this model or issue with their machine?

Make sure you ask about warranty, they told us they will only warranty for 90 days.

$500 will get you a decent Brother machine.

If it were me, I'd get it repaired if possible because you can't buy a machine that comes close for anywhere near that price. I'm looking to buy an older Pfaff, but am afraid of buying a computerized model because the motherboards can go anytime and may or may not be available to replace. It's a shame that these excellent machines are no longer supported. But where's the motive to do so? Better for them to sell us new machines. If I buy a working 7510/7530/7550/7570 and the mother board goes out in a day or a month, and I can't get it replaced, I'm out that $$. But you paid for your machine long ago and the cost of a new motherboard is far less than the cost of an equivalent new machine (and no equal exists).

But Brother machine are made in China - cheap quality, isn't it? Which model do you suggest? Consumer Reports rated the Runway Project NS-40 - I tried it - my friend who is a pretty good expert on sewing machines say that is not for me b/c it is not the same caliber as the Pfaff.

i have a feeling you will be in the market for a new machine soon. i couldn't find how to contact them either. their corportate office must be in Europe.

My Pfaff mother board went out twice in 2 years. Just can't keep spending that money and waiting 2-3 months to get it back. All our dealings with the local and corporate people were a waste of time. I have a Brother Project runway PC 420. My husband did lots of research and we have been very happy with it so far. Love being able to set a speed and do my FM. I can't say if the Pfaff is better quality but if it is always in the shop it does me no good.

What model of Brother did you get? And were you satisfied? My expert friend say that if I were to go from a Pfaff to a Brother, I would "cry" over because it would not be the same - moving down to a much lower quality.
