If you don't mind a strip of stick-on velcro on your garage door, you can pin the sew-on to the top of the quilt and it will hang really nice! |
Fortunately we have a banister on the second floor. DH is usually my quilt hanger.

Used to pin quilts to a wall papered wall in my dining room and found hundreds of pin holes in the wallboard when we removed the wall paper. Now the walls are painted and I can't pin quilts into them without the pinholes being very noticable. You can see the wall I used to use, it's the one with the picture hanging on it. Most quilts I photograph while they are hanging from the clothesline outside...have to be careful to do it when they are in the shade, and you can see the clothes pins. Sometimes, I have to rotate the pictures because of how I had to hang the quilt.
