I use Dritz Button Flat Head pins and I get them from Amazon.com

I too too prefer the flower head pins. Any pin will dull, rust and warp over time.

Thanks OhCanada.

I prefer the glass head pins but they do bend easily so you have to be a little more careful. If I have something that is a little thicker & need something stronger & longer, I use the flower head pins.

I tend to use only glass head pins as I frequently iron over them and they do not melt like the plastic ones.

Keeping your pins in the 100% wool pin cushion will keep the glide from the natural oil, as mentioned above. To help with keeping them from getting dull in damp climates or near the ocean, plus them all the way down to the heads when not in use -- otherwise you hit the exposed surface and the pin won't work as easily. I too use the Clover pins which bend -- have both the longer (green & gold heads) and shorter (blue & yellow) so the colors will show on various fabrics.

Thanks to Hulalulu (love that name) and all the others who shared their advice and experience. Great group of quilters/sewers

You know the old saying they don't make things the way they used to. Well it really applies here. I used to get glass head pins that were perfect! Long, sharp, strong, and white heads that were not to big or rather not to small either, I could see easily. I have been trying to find good pins but have not found any now days that I would recommend. The yellow head quilters pins the heads pull off, the glass head pins are light weight and hard to see the heads are very small, the rest are too short. I wish I could find my quilters pins. I think that the shop I bought them from ordered them from Cloitelde (?) not good at spelling I will be watching this thread to see what others say.

I typed in Clotilde and Amazon.com has some of their items. It's got something called IBC pins. Were your pins that type? Thanks

I like the Clover Patchwork Pins Fine. I've had to order them online.
