I was told the blue flower headed pins were the sharpest and thinnest. I did find they didn't last as long as I expected as they bent very easily.
i have given up on pins for binding and seams I use the small red pinch clips, they hold the fabric just as will with no pricks.

I too used cloth diapers (pampers weren't even invented yet!) but I kept the diaper pins in a bar of soap. Would that work for Quiltimg pins?

I know we all don't have room, but I have most kinds on separate magnets. Silk glass heads, flower heads, tiny applique, fat heavy with big balls on top, etc. Each has its own application, I toss one if it bends or picks, and replace them as the stack gets smaller. But I am a dressmaker as well as a quilter.
