This morning I had all the scraps on the table for sorting by colour. DH looks at the mess and says "You can't take it all with you when we move, you know"
Reply "If not, I'm not coming either." So I am looking for someone to adopt me and give me a home with all my stash. In exchange I can offer cleaning, cooking (I make a mean lasagna) or baby sitting. Please? I can't live without my fabrics! Pippa |
Darling lady, I am sure when it comes down to it, he will gladly take you with him. Just tell him to leave his tools or guns or knives and he might understand...something he loves. ROFL. Hope it all works out. Otherwise, I have room here in USA TExas for you. HUGS♥♥

If you're COOKING, I'm offering a home in the country among the cow pastures, sunsets, and quiet!!! Though I'm single, the two of us will be crowded as heck, but as I live in my studio, who cares?! We'll move outside on the porch or under the tree in great weather; come on over!

I can offer you a room in Florida! Just have to warn you that I have two boys so it can get noisy sometimes and they eat a lot, but at least they leave the sewing room alone.

I will even share my scraps and stash in exchange for pasta of any kind. :) |
Well, Michigan isn't bad, lived here all my life. Have a 9x9" room in the dungeon, rest of it is full of my stash and machines, etc. Of course we will have to move "his" stuff out of that room to where, donno. But there is nothing like setting up quiltin racks outside on a nice day(no rain or breeze) and chatting with a friend while tieing off quilts.
|
There you go, sounds like you could tour the states for awhile. Give your hubby time to find room for you and your stash. I have 2 extra guest rooms upstairs that are fabric free at the moment.
|
Use your stash as packing supplies. Fat quarters would be great to wrap a glass. Buy more glasses if you have to! lol.
|
put them in a box and write tampons and pads on it, he'll never know cause he'll never bother to look. 8-)
|
No No No, Marcia, everything has to be properly padded, sorted and wrapped, even pillows to keep them clean. She should buy more stash if need be. Ya'll know, we being way to helpfull here. The tampon box was a good idea. Also the clothes hamper. Get a big one. Men never open them. Their dresser drawers, "Hon, where is my clean underwear?" sound familiar?

If you know where you are moving to mail them to youself. Then tell hubby look what followed me home.
|
Come to my house!!!!!!!! I am 100% Italian!!! lol :D:D
|
I love Italian food; you can cook for me anytime! Seriously, I have 4 grown kids; can't seem to get rid of all of them, so one more won't make a difference.

Remember it takes at least a yard of folded fabric to protect one plate from another. |

For cooking and cleaning, I would adopt you in a second and even share my stash with you. Come on over to the beautiful Ozark area in the great state of Arkansas.
|
If he stays firm - ship your fabric to where you're going.
|
Thank you for starting this post.... Not only did I get a much needed chuckle this morning - heard some great ideas!
:) |
So, who will be doing the packing and un-packing and putting everything away? Right! You will! No problems then!!
|
I will be happy to adopt you but we have to live at your place -we'll just send your DH on his way and then stay. I am not going to offer to have you move to upstate NY when you have a place in ITALY!!!
Other than that small change, the adoption can proceed as scheduled.  |
Too Funny!
|
You could wrap your dishes in your stash. Then you would have it with you.
|
Use them as padding for protection of other items to be packed. Just shipped 24 boxes of household goods with a ton of fabric and scraps in each box.

Well, from what I have seen of movers, they will pack a full ashtray without emptying it! Unless he throws it out himself, the movers will pack it up! So don't worry, Sweetie! LOL

Thank you for your inventive solutions to the problem of where to hide the stash during removal LOL.
Thank you to all those who offered to "adopt" me and my fabric. I would really really love to tour around the country meeting you all and quilting together. It would be heaven. Pippa |

LOL
|
Only for the time of moving, put them in those plastic bags you take all the air out of with your vacuum. This will reduce them considerably. Just take them out when you get to your new home. You could also stuff them in pillows.
|
LMAO!!...awesome!

Other than that small change, the adoption can proceed as scheduled.  My other favorite replys were marking the boxes pads and tampons. That was too funny. Also the movers packing the stash. She is so right. My mom has told us many times growing up of the time they moved from Okinawia to Washington and she didn't think about emptying the trash can and the movers packed it trash and all!! Yuck. So, what's an extra box or 10 for the movers to pack. Good luck with your move. |
