How sad! I hope she didn't discourage your group member into leaving or giving up on quilting. I adore going to show-and-tells and seeing newcomers quilts. It takes a lot of courage to get up in front of people - and you never know what issues they may be dealing with (arthritic hands, etc). That "Quilt Police Wanna-Be" should be ashamed of herself!
Every quilt is a labor of love. |
I have to agree with all the input. There is NO reason for anyone to be unkind to fellow quilters. I know I am just learning how to quilt and really appreciate my fellow quilters comments, but they are not rude. Hope your friend doesn't give up quilting based on ONE person's thoughtlessness.

I am so glad you ladies pitch in and give that encouragement when needed and well other times too!
Yes I also almost gave up for rude remarks, and if it wasn't for some of you , I would have. yes we should give encouragement. If you can't say anything good at all, then keep the mouth shut. Again ladies thanks for encouraging words! |
Ask her to join our group here and post it. We'll let her know what a truly beautiful quilt she has made.

So sad, it only takes one put down to offset lots of Wows!

How sad and discouraging...We have a gal like that in our Guild and it's difficult to relate to her attitude. Life is way too short. Everyone deserves their day in the sun no matter how brightly it shines..
|
yep...that is why I stopped attending a quilt guild in FtW. I am so sorry this happened to this lady, and I hope you are, in the future, able to find her and encourage her. Tell her about all us here, and let her know that here, we have a strict "no quilt police" policy!!!

What? I don't believe this person is a lady. A lady doesn't behave in that manner.
