Applique is very portable. Also, hand quilting if it is a small project.
|
Try taking some fabric and cutting your pieces. I have a wall hanging that I amhand quilting. I take it anytime we are traveling, even short distances. I would rather fly. My husband won't set foot on a plane, so this helps me pass the time and I get something accomplished at the same time!

I too do Grandmother's Flower Garden hexagons. However, once I took a Cathedral Window and did that. I had the bases all sewn up and just put in the "glass" part. You can also do the bases by hand. Applique is always a good thing as is "redwork" stitchery.

Table runners and art quilts.

Right now my portable is red work. Some times applique or knitting :-D

I just started a cathedral window quilt specifically so I'd have something to do by hand either in front of the t.v. or while traveling.

I just started my first EPP project his week after someone posted a picture of a EPP Table Topper. Seemed like the ideal portable project to me.

I do any embellishments that I have to finish(embroidery) to get the quilt done. I rarely do any other hand work. Or I'll finish the binding on a quilt.

I have an Hawaiian pillow quilt that I appliqued the pattern and now I am hand quilting and echo quilting 1/4" apart all around. It takes forever but it's a great take along project
