YES! I have a big trunk.

My car does, too.

My first quillow was at 10 and my first full-sized quilt was a courthouse steps when I was 24 or 25. My parents still have it.

If that brings down the average at all. ;)

MissM 04-27-2011 06:04 PM

59 pushing 60 and proud of it....does DH need a need some straightening? There is never and old lady...just refined and mellowed, like a fine wine. :D

yellowsnow55 04-27-2011 06:08 PM

55 and been quilting for 20 years

Joanie2 04-27-2011 06:09 PM

57 going on 58 in less than 3 weeks. Started sewing at 12. My youngest son made his first quilt at 9 (he's now 23) and although my middle son, 28, does not quilt he does sew. Makes his own curtains, table runners and placemats. My DH used to say I hang with old ladies. Now I hang with both younger and older and my DH loves it when they come to sew because they bring food. They even put together a great basket of goodies for him for Christmas to show their appreciation. Tell your husband he needs to embrace all quilters both young and old.

I will leave this up for a day and then tally everyone's age! This is actually fun.

DogHouseMom 04-27-2011 06:09 PM

Okay I will be 56 in July and I have been quilting since the big Y2K scare. Not that has anything to do with it just helps me remember when I finished my first quilt. I had been working by hand on a lap sized crazy quilt for two years by then. And I have a quote you might share with your husband on his sugar high from one diabetic to another...."I have PMS and a handgun. Any questions?" Tell him to be a good little Qubby and be supportive of his quilter or these crazy ladies from all over the globe are offering to visit him!!! LOL

MimiLinda 04-27-2011 06:15 PM

63 and I just can't figure what is happening............my grandchildren, nieces and nephews are getting older and I'm not . Perhaps I'mstarting into my second childhood and liking it a lot .

Living in a 62 yr old body, but still don't feel totally grown up. Hope I never do!

CloverPatch 04-27-2011 06:17 PM

Ok, going to bring down the average a bit. Im 32.
Seems theres a bit of 30's 40's and 60's Wheres all the 50's?? Or is that the party age?

GGinMcKinney 04-27-2011 06:17 PM

I am 61 and a grandma. However even my physical therapist says I do not look or act like a grandma. His Mom is 61 and he stays I am younger than she is. Ha! I think quilting keeps us active, squatting to the floor to pickup pins, or to pin baste a quilt, reaching high in closets to get the batting down, learning new techniques, trying new things, budgeting, selling, trading, making new friends. My dr. says quilting will prevent dementia and those things associated with it. Don't know yet if she is correct. Lols
I do quilt with ladies who are in their 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Maride 04-27-2011 06:25 PM

lyndaloo 04-27-2011 06:29 PM

mosquitosewgirl 04-27-2011 06:39 PM

But there are quite a few 20 and 30 somethings on this board, too.

fayzer 04-27-2011 06:39 PM

I'm 68 but tell him I'm 44. I'm cutting it in half. That is how old I feel. LOL

Melody 04-27-2011 06:39 PM

64... my DH has never been around women who sew which means he has no preconceived ideas about quilting and age. And besides that, most of my quilting buddies are at least 10 years younger than me. :D I think that makes me young at heart.

Melody

Kathios 04-27-2011 06:41 PM

I am 59...I started sewing and knitting at age 12--self taught from library books. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 10.
