I make mine. The only quilts that don't get labels are charity quilts that I give to the guild. The charity chair then puts a guild label on them.

I make my own. Nothing real fancy as yet.

I design a label in Word or one of the print programs and print on Printed Treasures paper backed fabric. I then frame with a fabric from the quilt and stitch on by hand.

if I don' want to use printed treasures pre-treated label material any more and want to print my label directly onto my material, what do we pretreat our material with?

You can do a Google search on ... "treat fabric for inkjet printing." You will find a number of websites to read.

I do label my quilts and have gone back to a few quilts made several years ago and put labels on them. On the older quilts I used a permanent pen to write directly on the backing, but now that I have am embroidery machine I enjoy making my labels with it. I sometimes embroidery on muslin, turn a seam allowance to the back and stitch that seam allowance down with a decorative stitch before hand sewing the label to the back of my quilt. Other times (when I know for whom the quilt is for) I embroidery the label directly on the backing itself before the quilt is quilted. Making sure the label is well within the body of the quilt so it wouldn't be cut off when the binding is put on.

I pretreat fabric with Bubble Jet Set. It's very easy and not too expensive. The last one I purchased was from Walmart.com and I believe it was under $15. There is another product called Bubble Jet wash I think and it is for setting the colors and removing excess ink. It's more for printing pictures on fabric where a lot more ink is used. I've not used it on my labels and had no issues with fading. I do let my labels sit overnight or longer before ironing them and I launder my quilts before gifting them. The one time I didn't wait, I had fading issues and had to get the quilt back and replace the label. I also use 200ct muslin or better quality cotton for printing my labels.
