If you could make any quilt for yourself, which one would it be, type of fabric and color.

Remember this would be for just you. So dream on.

jemma 04-10-2011 05:17 AM

a rainbow of colours

Hope2quilt 04-10-2011 05:18 AM

I always wanted to make the wedding ring quilt.

StitchinJoy 04-10-2011 05:22 AM

What do you mean, IF YOU COULD...?

Why can't we?

I've made several quilts for myself. I'm making one for myself now, a red Chimneysweep, all hand quilted. They are a joy to make AND a joy to have.

I enjoy them on so many levels. I love working on the fabrics that I love. And when it's finished, I love looking at the qiilt and remembering where I bought the fabrics and when I sewed the blocks, sometimes with friends. So it's not just a quilt, it's a memory album. And that's priceless.

Soft, lightweight with Brights, Black, Black & white prints, Circles and just big enough to wrap up in on the couch when watching the twilight series.
Not that I like vampires but i do like the music & love stories.

Painiacs 04-10-2011 05:31 AM

Making one now! Kimono quilt! Variety of colors!

cjomomma 04-10-2011 05:40 AM

Mine will be made out of Sunflower prints that I have been collecting for a couple of years. I have also had many who have sent me Sunflower prints too. It seems like my quilt keeps getting put on the back burner. I have all the blocks cut out but can't seem to find the time to sew it together.

donnajean 04-10-2011 05:55 AM

I've already made many quilt just for myself. Flower blocks are my favorites.

QuiltnNan 04-10-2011 06:06 AM

If it was just for me, I'd do just batiks. Doesn't matter what pattern, but would probably be something difficult and time-consuming. Since batiks are expensive and I don't have enough time to spend on just one quilt, it probably won't happen :-)

rdorminy 04-10-2011 06:11 AM

I love the flying geese pattern and made a King size quilt of browns (geese) and creams, lt. tans (sky)for myself and love it. One of the first quilts I made. Want to do a king size log cabin now.

quiltingnanaD 04-10-2011 06:11 AM

For myself I want to make a landscape quilt that tells the story of my life from the time I got married. It will have beautiful rivers and steep water falls as well as peaceful valleys and some wilderness areas. Lots of color! We have walked thru hard times and good times but even the hard times were good because of all we have learned from them. God has been so good to us and we have seen many miracles. I would like to be able in some way to bring all this to life in a quilt that will tell how great , powerful, and awesome our Lord is!

clsurz 04-10-2011 06:13 AM

I am planning to make myself a quilt from when I served in the Marine Corps and creating blocks of places I've been stationed at. I've already purchased most of the Marine Corps fabrics and also have designed some blocks and will also be printing some on muslim pieces that are needed for this memory quilt of my adventures while in the corps.

carolaug 04-10-2011 06:18 AM

I am in the process of cutting my tumblers for my questroom...all roses and a few fairies. can't wait to start sewing them and see how it comes out.

KarenK 04-10-2011 06:32 AM

I am s-l-o-w-l-y collecting light colored batiks for a bed quilt. Haven't decided on the design yet - something quite simple and geometric with quilting in a leaf design.

darlin121 04-10-2011 06:34 AM

I guess I'm lucky. I've been able to make several quilts just for me. I just sew where my muse leads me!

littlehud 04-10-2011 06:52 AM

I have a couple of quilts I made for me, but my dream quilt is a Baltimore Album quilt.

Cherylsea 04-10-2011 06:59 AM

I want to make one of barnbum's quilts - never thought of florals in that way and I really, really want one!!! Don't know if I will make the log cabin or the bargello or maybe even both - it's nice to have dreams!

TerryQuilter 04-10-2011 07:01 AM

My DH and I saw a painting many years ago of dolphins "surfing" in a grain field with grain heads flying everywhere (like waves). I really want to make this into a quilt, but have them surfing a sunflower field. Maybe some day :!:

redmadder 04-10-2011 07:17 AM

A red school house with parchment or cream background, lushly quilted. Or a blue and white pineapple, or a Norman Rockwell Log Cabin, or........sigh.

lynndianne 04-10-2011 07:19 AM

pink, white and light green.

Lynn :)

Christmas 2006, I spent alone and far away from my family. I decided to piece a quilt as a gift for myself. This is the quilt top I made those two days.

Last spring, I finally had my mid-arm and it's one of the first quilts I quilted on it- with roses in the white areas.

Most of my quilts are for other people, but I love 1930's prints, and this one was just for me.

Maggie

lynndianne 04-10-2011 07:34 AM

That's lovely.

I ordered a quilt kit from Keepsake Quilting called "Terry's Flower Garden". I've been drooling over this quilt for about 2 years now and hope to get it made sometime this year - it has large floral blocks and I love flowers. This one is Just For Me.

OneMoreQuilt 04-10-2011 08:09 AM

I don't know!! I'll have to give this some thought.

chickadeee55 04-10-2011 08:39 AM

Wow, I love reading these replys.

I have made many quilts that I have kept and are used on our bed or the living room. But I have yet to make a ' dream quilt ' for myself, I guess others get done first, and ditto...mine gets put on the back burner.

But I would love to make an Irish Chain. Someday.

Happy Linda 04-10-2011 09:04 AM

I made a Christmas quilt for myself and every year when I bring it out I love it. So glad I didn't give it away.

Happy Linda 04-10-2011 09:05 AM

beautiful

Jo M 04-10-2011 09:09 AM

My answer (today anyway) would be a Baltimore, with some beautiful blues.

sewobsessed1 04-10-2011 09:19 AM

No contest, a Baltimore. Or a pastel crazy quilt. No wait...Ugh! :)

amma 04-10-2011 11:39 AM

A bed quilt for me, Mariners Compass maybe, or some other bold 3D pattern? With pale turquoise and lavendar batiks :D:D:D

 I agree 100% I am making a king size bed quilt for myself right now. It will be my first king ever, as I tend to make mostly lap and baby quilts.

Becky Crafts 04-10-2011 02:49 PM

Mine would either be a floral log cabin or a french braid in rich chocolate hues & cream colors & maybe some earthtones tossed into the mix.

dgsmom 04-10-2011 03:08 PM

i would like a quilt that is named memories. it has crosses and eight point stars. in 30's print and black background.

Divokittysmom 04-10-2011 03:10 PM

A quilt just for me??? Definitely a Sunbonnet Sue quilt in shades of rose, pale greens, maybe pale blues. I would find the most beautiful cottons prints that were pleasing just for me.

And.. one other quilt would be a Crazy Quilt in luxurious fabrics like velvets, satins etc and in deep jewel tone colors of burgandys, blacks, deep greens etc. with tons and tons of embellishment stitches by hand.

sigh..... if only I had the time!! I always dreamed once we retired I would have plenty of time to sew.... not sew much....

Wow, thanks for a great question and time for me to DREAM BIG! LOL

jitkaau 04-11-2011 02:47 AM

A Ricky Tims Rapsody Quilt.

deema 04-11-2011 02:57 AM

Well...the first quilt I made was for me...since then I haven't made one for me. I'm working on everyone else! I have the fabrics chosen for two of them...

A black red and white sampler made of whichever random blocks I feel like choosing.

And a batik and black jewel box.

Right now I'm working on a quilt for my husband...which wouldn't take long if I'd just sit down and DO IT!

Next up is a quilt for an expecting friend's baby.

Then some baby quilts for the children's hospital.

Then probably a customer quilt.

Then I'd better start working on the two I'm making for Christmas...

Some day I'll do mine...some day...

cedarvalleyquilts 04-11-2011 03:22 AM

Mine will be a Mariner's Compass done in autumn-colored batiks. I've been collecting the fabric for a while now...only a few more to go, and then I can start.

Roxanne 04-11-2011 03:52 AM

I am currently making Affairs of the Heart with the sew along group here on the board...It is just for ME! I also want to make a crazy quilt some day.
